Went to my usual auto parts store today, to buy my regular 5 quart jug of engine oil. And they would always do the price match thing with Walmart. Which was like $16.97 .and this time they said nope! Can't do it. ! Their price was now $28.98 for 5 quarts. I don't know about everyone else. But $6 per quart is steep .so now I'll have to drive 10 miles further to Walmart and stock up. I usually get Castrol 20w50 or 10w40 for my truck. I'm kinda shocked by the price increase and difference. Are prices like this all over?

I did some research, and found good test results and reviews for costco's kirkland full synthetic. I bought some for my daily driver. Two five quart jugs $27. (I think it was on sale for $20 when i bought mine. I buy diesel oil there when it is on sale too, for the truck, and to mix with old racing oil in my flat tappet mopars.)
But yeah, oil prices seem up everywhere, even wally world.
Edit: the kirkland is available only in 5-30 or 0-20.

Auto Zoo has been crazy high for some time now.
I was at a Rural King about a month ago and they had a special on Valvoline VR-1 for 3.99/qt. I needed some for the bikes since they have flat lifters.
Sold out.
Other prices weren't bad. I was in Wally's today helping a friend get some stuff but didn't go to the oil aisle.

Isn’t all oil just about $5 and up anymore? I thought VR1 was a deal at $6. Sams does the 10qt x 2 jugs of Rotella. Still works out to $4/qt.
VR1 at $3.99 is a gift.

I went to Walmart after work and bought the 5 quart jug of Castrol gtx 20w50 for $16.97
