Installed new RMVB with brake drilled front clutch drum per instructions for vent relocation air checked trans rear clutch nice solid thump, front clutch engaged but not as solid as rear and I am hearing air leakage is this normal due the vent hole added to the drum? This is on a fresh rebuild.

Could be a broken sealing ring either on the rear of the pump or input shaft, or pump to housing gasket. Another possibility is a damaged piston lip seal.

It could be the vent hole. Sealing rings are a possibility too. The vent hole will bleed air much faster than ATF.
