Here is my Bella! She is a rescue as well. Her name was "Larva" when we got her 'cause she was covered with maggots when found as a kitten.
Had a tough go of things a few months ago. She decided to go exploring in the basement while we were in the process of moving things around.
My wife heard a crash one evening before I got home from work. Things had not yet been put back where they belonged and our best conjecture is she jumped up on something not quite stable and wound up going for a ride. Snapped both bones in her left front leg clean. Vet was very surprised to learn she was 15 years old, they all thought she was much younger. Some months after the cast came off she came up lame again. Turns out she dislocated her right rear paw. We don't know how she managed to do that. Old age must be setting in? Maybe her body isn't as young as her mind? These days the second my *** hits the recliner she jumps on my lap, rolls over and offers me her belly to scratch for as long as I sit there. She's a good girl.

We just lost one of our best friends last night.

Nougat (AKA Buff, Punk, and also "Trouble").

He was the poster child for "the size of the fight in the cat". 12 pounds but acted 25.
Very talkative, but never "meow" some were three or four syllables.

Did not show up for breakfast yesterday, then did not show up for dinner.
Found him in the Garage on my 66 Coronet not wanting to move.
Brought him in and was hard shallow breathing.
Went to emergency Vet at 10:30 pm. After almost 2 hours they said his blood sugar was over 500.
Would be $2500 to keep him in oxygen tent over night (after the $800 in work already done), then rush to daytime ER.
Then begin testing and treatment for three months then no guarantees even with 3 times daily monitor and house confinement.

He was a good cat.

Rest in peace, my friend.

The orange cat is his brother, Buddy. They were dinky when we got them. Not sure Buddy would make it but he did.
They are/were 10.

First pic is them flinging themselves in circles under the sofa. Third pic on bottom was last week.

We got a couple balls like that for my girl, Mopar , too! Thats so she can chase balls in the yard in the dark too. Five or ten times during the day just isn't enough.
Yeah I could throw the ball till my arm fell off and he would look at me like Use the other arm

sorry to hear YY1. It really sucks. I think for mostly all non human companions, because they are so innocent, it is well ..... you know.
Have lost several over the years too, doesn't get much easier.

When I was a kid, I always wanted a "lion colored" cat.

Thank you, Buff!

2 days ago he was fine. last I saw him, he was all up in my face and then had some of my salmon and white cheddar.

Last night sucked pretty bad.

OK, not the right venue.

No worries, yy1, we're all animal lovers on this thread, we've all lost some of ours, and we know the hurt.
My sympathies Sir.
The new puppy in #98 is for my best friends ,and their dog, who lost two dogs in the space of two months.
I think the best cure for the heartache is a new rescue.
