Car Value..HELP

Sounds more like a 69 Satellite or Belvedere. I'd either make a trip or just offer Satellite money. Clean 383 California Satellite - 7-8K. Maybe 11 or 12 if it runs and drives. But you're in CT and the car is across the country? I'd find one closer.

Buy mine.

original NM CR. Very solid, only a minimal amount of rust on the rear qtr panel.

its got the fender tag, #s matching engine. Original 4 speed car. Comes with the original dana 60. Seats all have brand new upholstry. Needs a tune up.

oh, and its a one owner, fully documented real GTX.

just posted it to CL. Im updating my for sale ad here.

found an A12 I wanna get so this one has to go.

3500 for a dana,2000K? for a complete 4 speed setup,the air grabber parts? 1500?
and then the seats and interior which can eat up a lot of money say another 2k?
plus then the body goes to the shop for paint and whats that gonna cost?
another 6 grand? on the cheap side?
o and hey hell still need a 440 close to his build date And all the other small items.
i stopped counting way back around 14k...we havent even gotten to the dash,
Or the amount of labor involved in such project.

seems like valuing 18k for a car that you will need to drop 25k into thats worth 40-50k isnt entirely sane to me.
are you sure you read his whole post??

You will save enough money in sheetmetal replacement to buy the missing pieces. Those are top dollar E bay prices for the parts Rob,I bought two dana 60s for less than you are quoting for one at Carlisle.

im just saying, this guys thinking its a diamond but its missing all the stuff that makes it a gtx......
shouldnt we be trying to save him from being upside down financially in the car?

He could find a GTX in proper form with less money than it would take to fix this car. Unless he wants THIS specific car, he should pass...

im not talking about ebay prices Pete,
im talking real world prices on Fb groups and marketplace.
deals that happen every day, items sold in Minutes,
not some goon trying to milk people like on ebay.
and,you know what i dont see a lot of?
b body dana 60s completely redone and up for sale.
in Fact, last week a freshly redone E body dana 60 sold for 5 grand.

so,if you Scored 2 b body danas Just freshly Rebuilt for 1500 apiece then you stole them at a great price.
congrats.
that still doesnt make the math work out on this particular car and what its missing overall.

dont get me wrong i Like that its an a4 silver car and a great body BUT
most of the time, peoples idea of Rustfree
( which usually means Surface rust all over the chassis and places on the body )
and my idea of Actual rustfree, are 2 very different things.

It also depends on when the car was put together last time..I remember driving to every junkyard within about 100 miles of my place looking for parts in the 90's...Things are "easy" to find now because of Craigslist and Ebay and whatnot...But just a little while ago it wasn't the case...
Yes sir. Also a very valid point.

Cars are worth more in sum of parts than as for a project.
Always buy the best project you can afford, always buy the most COMPLETE project you can afford.
Parts for thee old cars were way easier and cheaper to find back a few decades ago, than now with Feebay, CL, MP all that BS
Those $40000 cars mentioned are perfect they are correct with YES the fender tag and maybe bud sheet. UNless YOU can do the work, yo will have more $$ in the car than that $40000??
Check auction sales, in general few cars are bringing that "normal" price.
Anything a seller gets over the price of scrape, is salesmanship!!!???

Take it from someone who has been fixing New England rust buckets for 40 years, the California car that is rust free,or nearly rust is well worth the price, and the shipping to New England all day long. I have four of them currently, and they are so much better than the cars from New England, there is no comparison.

Rob,the car will never be a numbers matching car again, so if it were my car,I would put a brand new Strange Dana 60,for two grand, an overdrive transmission, and a stroked 440 in it, for much less than it would cost to replace the original components and have a faster car that can be driven on the highway and enjoyed regularly.

I'd look at the trans hump area under the carpet to make sure the hump wasn't added.

While I was under there I'd look for bucket seat brackets as well as the mentioned console brackets.

then go from there.

Anyone ever see a bench seat 4 speed GTX?

I don't think a bench seat was available in a GTX,it would have been buckets with or without a buddy seat.

4 speed hump is original, as it also has the bracket on the drivers frame rail for the Z bar.. It is a running driving car.

so is this one for 39,500.
440 4 speed gtx convertible even....

Hold on a cotton picker......

This was your brother's car and you didn't mention that in the OP.

That sure would have lent a bit more credibility to the backstory.
