I have a 70 V-code Roadrunner that came with a factory manual transmission, so it has a Dana 60. I just went through major frame strengthening and suspension replacement and add ons, and Strange direct was my best source for a chromoly driveshaft, slip and rear end pinion gears, and chromoly caps for solid 1350 U-joints.

How come no low ratios -4.10, 4.56 etc
You can order them with 3.23, 3.54, 3.73, 4.10, 4.30, or 4.56. Go to Dr. Diff's website to check them out.

The Pentastar V6 in my Caravan has some grunt, as do many modern V6s.Thinking about shoving some 4.30's into my Dakota V6. Those things like low geared rear ends!
I was really surprised by the power of the 1980s era 90° 4.3L V6 in my GMC "mini" pickup truck. It chirped 2nd w/the automatic transmission the first time I matted the gas. It wound up having "some" major mechanical malfunction, and I drove it until it died utterly.
That was a different lifetime ago...

The 1st gen Dakota's are a bit bigger and heavier and really could benefit from something a bigger engine (3.9) but the 95 used to run a 16.60 second 1/4 mile which isn't too shabby for weighing 3400+ with me in it. The little GMC was about 200 or so lbs lighter iirc. We had some at the refinery and we had one as a shop go fer truck and yeah, it surprised me how spunky it was. Now my 92 Dakota with the 5.2 and 3.90 gears was much more fun and ran right along side of the Mustang GT's back then in the low 15 second range

Geesh! I went from a bone stock 71 Charger R/T 440 4bbl auto, OPEN 8¾ rear axle, that was "fun" on the street in 78-79 but the weight and open diff forced me to pick and choose a race lest I have my *** handed to me...I went from that to a E58 "police" 360 4bbl 79 Aspen R/T w/a 2.XX gearset and OMG it was a SLUG! 16.3 in the quarter mile! It beat its contemporary competitors, like a Hurst/Olds twice in a row, but man, those were some dark years when it looked like performance was over for good. That 360 responded well to some "shadetree" mods-cam, headers, ignition system and tossing the "Lean Burn" crap, Holley carb and 3.55 gears....
It's great what technology has done for performance and fuel efficiency.

I came across a 360 Aspen RT 360 too but there wasn't any lean burn on it. It came out of a totaled car and I dropped it into a 79 D150 SWB reg cab pickup and it ran 15.60 with 3.23's and 25" rear tires and did it consistently with a Torker intake, 650 DP and headers as the only mods. Gas mileage sucked but at that time, who cared lol
