Ran GLSSA at Milan Sunday. Great turnout. Our class brought 69 cars. We qualify on r/t. 2 hits, .031, .005. Its good for #7 spot. Car is decent 9.09@146. I figure the number 40 qualifier isnt real sharp at the tree so I'll be conservative. I know better. I run ok .036, 9.10 on a 9.09. Unfortunately he pulls out a .003 r/t. He lifts at the stripe my 148.48 almost got him. I was short by aprox 8", .003 stripe. Anyway had a great time. Jimmy, Brad, Mike, Charlie go out their way to make this a great series. They are not promoters, but racers that are racing right along with us. They are running the series for no pay. Thanks to them. Looking forward to next seasons GLSSA. Now time to refocus and head to Indy NMCA Wednesday.

Well that blows .
I sometimes feel you have to be better against the once a year guys . Regulars ypu know what they should do , minimal guess work .

Tex

I know that feeling! First round was always the toughest for me. But there's always another race to get it done.

That sucks DVW

I did it way more than I'd like to admit
especially events using sportsman trees, 0.5 tenths
in comp-eliminator
most of my losses were red lights
I much prefer the 0.4 tenths pro-tree
rarely red-lit on a 0.4ths tree & always ran better
into the rounds much farther
didn't ever do much all electronics/throttle stops
or breakout bracket racing
or getting on the brakes at the stripe racing either

hated running some dude that ran 10's or 11's
& sitting there for 3 (or more) seconds waiting for my light
especially when you get that guy that cuts .001 light
with a 10.90 all electronics car,
transbrake, delay boxes, throttle stops, timers, air shifted, chipped every aspect
drive it from the grandstands, with a remote control/types

I did like the aspects of running them down
with usually 30-40-50+ mph more than them
blowing by them while they are bailing/dumping it at the big end
seeing them looking over at me, flying by
& still almost nailing my index/class #'s

In GLSSA we run 3 types of cars. NHRA S/S with 14x32 tires and a trans brake. NHRA stock with 9x30 tires using a rev chip tied into the footbrake to set launch rpm with the accelerator on the floor. And N/SS with 10.5 tires using a footbrake with no rpm chip, tach only. We all dial-in and run each other. You can run .00x lights off the footbrake but it is dangerous territory. Stage an inch to deep or 100 rpm to high, and it can put you on the wrong side of .00X. I should have trusted myself to not go red, but I was a sissy.

Round 1 is always the most nervy for me. If I were the guy in the other lane, I’d be pretty proud of that time slip! .003 at the tree and .003 at the stripe. You could make a strong argument that he’s making use of more than a little luck at both ends of the track. But Hey, he was pretty damn good on that pass. An .050 pack ain’t too bad either, Doug. Your side of that slip will win more races than it’ll lose!

And he does!! He wins more than any NSS car I know of.......Kudos to you DVR!!!!!!

Bummer Doug. When we race, it's always brought up to "win the first round and you're better than .500 average for the day guaranteed! First round is usually the toughest. Once through that one, they seem to get easier... Not to win, but easier on the nerves LOL!

Same was true for me, 1st Round tough, and if I won 3rd Rd, usually won or RU'd. Except at Division V ET Finals, 0 for 5 after winning 3 rounds.

UGGHH! That's a tough one. You are due!

Someone can drive the Stripe!! Backed right up to you.

Sometimes the lower qualified guy will take a shot at the tree because they think they have nothing to lose.

Doug, What was the DA (or Adjusted Altitude or whatever it is called in your area) when you made that 9.104 Run ? And...if you recorded it, or not, was there a headwind or tailwind ??
I am asking because my best run (of the only 12 that I have made with my new Hemi Car) is 9.265 @ 143.14 with a 1.330 60' and 2100 DA and no head or tailwind and this was off the footbrake leaving around 2500rpm. I have got the chassis setup now to be able to launch the car off the transbrake with a 4500 to 5000 chip so now after I make a couple runs using the transbrake to confirm that the chassis is working correctly on the transbrake then I need to start working on my timing and jetting. My 572 hemi motor is entirely different than your 572 wedge so what your jetting is would be different, I would presume...but my timing and your timing might be similar. I have my timing now at 37 degrees and I think I should be cutting that back to like 33 or 34 as the car has way too much power with 37 off the line. I would presume cutting it back to 33 or 34 might tame it down somewhat to get it off the line and then give it more top end power.
My twin 1050 Dominators currrently have 94 jets in all corners. That is the second thing that needs to be addressed. I run VP C-16 race gas.
I did s compression check at all 8 cyliners (just to rule out any problems there) and they all checked out to be between 209lbs and 210lbs...The build sheet on the motor shows 14.5-1 Compression for what that is worth.
I have 15x32x14.5W bias ply Hoosier slicks with 105" rollout and 10 lbs of air.
Ladder Bar Car (Chris Alston Backhalf setup)
I am asking all these questions for help because I would think my car should now hit 1.28 to 1.29 60' using the transbrake (if it hooks)....but with 1011HP as shown on my Dyno Sheet I just think with the chassis setup right and the jetting right and the timing right the car should run 9.00, I would think (and hope).
Your thoughts please.
Thanks, Mike
Plus any other guys would be appreciated to chime in on this.

Air was good around 1500, no wind, no track prep either. I run 2 750 Eddys stock out of the box with no chokes. I'd be no help on jetting. But 94 square sounds close. Run the timing for max mph, not ET. I'd run VP C14. That C-16 is power adder fuel. Not correct for your combo.
