My initial look at the first picture on the ad, and reading into the ad was 35K. After looking at the pictures attached and the video I lowered my assessment some due to flaws I saw during that process. True, it's a rare car and if truly unmolested and presents better in person I could go back to that figure. The pictures were crappy and nothing detailed so I'm closer to 30K. Remember you are asking for opinions here and don't beat me for mine. 66-67 Chargers are unique cars, but on the desirability side are not quite as popular as the Coronet R/T or the GTX for that year. If you are not days away and truly interested go look and see. Verify date codes, options, and actual condition. That's my 2 cents.

See ^^^^. I might go a little higher dollar wise if you really like the car and see it in person. Would be nice to have it on a lift. I say 10% to 15% more for a 4 speed.

$30k

67 440 Chargers ARE rare.

Personally I wouldn’t pay up just because it is.

There are other 383 4 speed 66-67s out there and even more autos that could be converted.

I'd be careful some patience might be in order. I just think we are in for a depression in the next 2-3 years. Maybe I'll be wrong but I think values will plummet.

A couple other notes:

First gen Chargers that show the headlights in the open position more than likely have headlight motor/limit/switches/relay issues. I'd ask if the headlights close on their own.

The interior is showing its age: carpet, door panel, and seat covers.

I'm thinking if all the gauges work and the EL lighting works, high twenties. I've sold 2 recently, one fully restored 66 (383 Silver/red) (Factory AC) (26K) and a 67 Copper/Copper interior Black Vinyl roof 383 auto car with factory AC (full ground up restoration), 30K.

Good luck!

Mark

For me, it would need new paint, new carpet, new rear interior side panels (due to speaker holes), headlights don't work, missing ash tray, radio isn't hooked up, vinyl trim along door edge torn, rip in rear seat, broken grill, damage behind left front tire (under car), bottom of radiator support right side bent?, fuel tank leak?, engine compartment detailing. No pictures of the trunk and lots of undercoating. I'd pay $22,500 maybe less --- Close to $10,000 of work needed. That doesn't include brakes, rear diff., clutch, trans., engine and suspension inspections.

Yeah, that thing is rough for $42k. It’s a dealer so I’m sure at $42k they paid closer to $25k and they’re swinging for the fences.

Thanks for the response, all. I appreciate the info on what to keep an eye out for. I'm going to keep searching.

Side note: if anyone has a 4spd big block car for sale...

FWIW I believe that car has been listed at least since the beginning of the year. No one seems to be moving fast on it.

I agree with just about everything here ... I'd say 30,000 over as well. 14k because it is a 4 speed and rare(er). But it needs a lot of work. my 2 cents.

I have a 62 Lancer Road Toad rare as hen's teeth, rare does not always equal value.

Value of any Mopar model? , ask the crowd that has them. They will know the real market and they will usually be conservative too.

I cannot answer your question regarding value, or what it's worth.

I can tell you that I like the car, and a 4 spd makes it a LOT better for me.

Good luck

Still on the hunt, if anyone knows of a big block 4 speed that needs a new home...

I have a 67 383 4sp (sorry, not for sale), and there are a few sources for values. +20% for 4 speed. Personally I think a 4 speed is priceless, but there you go.
