I am trying to get the interior rear upper door panel installed in my 69 Coronet, I am at a loss as to how to attach this and could use some guidance. The upper door cap/sheet metal has the window felt already attached( ist picture). There are matching holes through the door sheet metal (2nd and 3rd picture) but nothing behind the door sheet metal/ frame to screw into to secure it in place? Is there a flat piece of bar with matching holes that fits behind the oversized hole or do I have to locate some type of speed nut/clip to put in each hole? This would take a long tapped clip if that is the case, but would seem reasonable. I have looked for a clip type but no luck...any idea what they are called and where I could possible get them? I looked through the classic catalog but can't find any reference. I could use some help and will buy if anyone has what I need. Thanks, Mocajava

there is another piece of window felt that clips on to the quarter panel it clips on no screws

If you are referring to the "Window Fuzzies" on the outer skin, they were originally attached with staples thru the elongated slots. With new felts, you likely have to use screws to attach them. The coarse metal screws go thru the felt, and into the elongated slots. Make sure to use a flat head (countersunk) type, similar to a wood screw to ensure it will hold the felt, but not sit too high to scratch the quarter window.

I will add due to Mr. B's response, it is also possible that the clips I see on your felts could likely fit into the slots like he said. I think mine didn't have the clips, or didn't fit properly. I also did mine 30 years ago, so mind fog and better parts prevail...

I have to correct myself, I know how the large panel above attaches but it is the external trim that would be attaching to the round holes in picture #2 and 3. THAT is the area I need to find clips/ nuts for. I have included the pic of trim for a reference below.

Thanks Mr. B and 69Bee I also had fun with the window felts and ended up riveting them in place with stainless rivets to keep anything from scratching the glass. I corrected my post above and hope to get an idea of where I can get the hardware from YOU experts to attach the external trim to the inside door sheet metal! Thanks again

I will have to do this soon.

For the rears of my car, the outer fuzzies were clipped on (my repos snapped in perfectly) and the inner ones were stapled on.

For my inner ones, my plan is to go to a local windshield place with my parts and a bunch of spring clamps, and have them glue the whiskers on for me using their 3M windshield adhesive. After the glue dries, I'll carefully drill a few small holes for some small screws and nuts I got from Home Depot.

It looks like my original inquiry was side tracked. I already have all my fuzzies in but could use some help determining what and where I can get the clips that hold the exterior window trim (first picture) onto the interior top edge of my quarter panel sheet metal (2nd picture). Thanks ahead for looking

Sorry, I cannot find any photos of mine. Dadsbee has a build thread that should show what you need.

My outer felts clipped into the slots in the quarter panel and I used Moparnation74's idea of using tiny screws in place of the staples provided with the inner felts.

IIR when I did my 68 R/R ( looks similar ) I used something kin to a liscenes plate plastic push in for lack of a better description. They make different sizes for round or square holes.

I decided to go through EVERY box I had and found the clips that go in there! They are a very long speed nut type for a#10 phillips head screw. Cleaned them up and painted them and ready to go. Unfortunately, I have to remove the window to get the darn things installed and the trim on....I hate doing things twice! Thanks for the help gentlemen, I'll try and take a picture of them to give you a reference. Mocajava

Here is the picture of the speed nuts I finally found that allow me to attach the exterior trim to the interior door panel. I just wanted to bring closure to this thread and give anyone interested the information. Thanks for all the suggestions and help gentlemen.
