I just finished replacing my intake manifold, carburetor, and valve covers. Now my tach and oil temp gauges stopped working (every other gauge still works properly).

Is there anything in the engine bay that I could have messed with that would have disabled these two gauges? Any ideas otherwise?

Yes you didn't hook up the wires. Temperature sending unit, tachometer, and oil pressure gauges all have wires on or around the intake.

There is no oil temp gauge in a 66 Charger...at least not factory equipped.
Tach wire is connected to coil terminal...leave it off?

Would this have something to do with either gauge potentially? This is the only thing that was on my last intake that isn't currently installed, as far as I'm aware.

I know that the capacitor goes under the coil bracket and the black wire goes to the coil. It is for noise suppression. What the other thing is, I have no idea.

Could it be one of those emission things with green cover missing? Don't think 66 had them unless it was a California thing?

Oil temp had a disconnected wire under A/C, so that is working again. I cannot find the wiring for the tachometer though...

You mean Water temp? Don't recall ever seeing oil temp on a 66. The water temp sensor would be on the water pump housing out by the A/C compressor. Oil Pressure switch should be on the back of the engine near the firewall. Tach wire should be on the coil.

Ah you may be correct. My apologies.

I have two wires on pos and one on neg (distributor) for coil, as my wiring diagram says... so I am unsure why tach is not working...

Tach was functioning before I swapped my intake and carburetor, I touched nothing under dash.

A couple suggestions to help next time:
Take pictures of everything.
On the wires you can make a flag label with painters tape and make a note for where it goes. As I get older I find to that I need to minimize the start to finish time. A gap in working on stuff creates problems for me.

What color is the tach wire? In the engine bay.
