I have to replace the battery tray in the 66. The wrong one was installed by the prior owner. I picked up the correct new one. Is it supposed to be body colour or black?

Thought so, but my buddy swears it should be black

Had my car 42 years I'm 3rd owner and the second owner was a friend and he didn't do anything except than wreck the block.

Thanks guys. I went today and ordered some paint. We'll see how well it matches. They couldn't use the paint code, we had to match it to chips.

Go to car paint online and give them the paint code. They send the paint in spray cans.

I'm in Canada and they won't ship across the border. I am picking up the first can today, and we'll see how close it is.

1967 had a carryover Light blue metallic. DD1.

You should be able to have any place that handles PPG paint, mix it up. Your fender tag should show DD1.

Here is the spray out of the new paint. The passenger rear quarter was repainted after the rest of the car, and is a bit darker, so we tried to match that colour. The biggest scratch is on the quarter. Came out close enough for touch ups. I primed the battery tray on the weekend and will probably paint it next weekend.

What is your paint code? That match looks really good. Way,way back the local body shop would match try to match the existing paint on the car after an accident, so it was less noticeable.

Paint code is CC1, but they didn't have any way of cross referencing that code to their current products.

Paired the tray and support today. A little bit lighter but close enough for a part that is 90 percent hidden.

The fender tag shows the difference in the colour a bit better.

It turned out really well. Of course its going to be lighter and more vibrant, but it will age up a bit if you oil it, wipe it clean with some residue.

Got the old tray out and the new one in today. Didn't realize how much they had cobbled up to make the wrong one fit. Good news is it fit the way it was designed to. Bought a correct hold down to replace the parts store one.
