Any young fella obsessed with all things baseball in my age group remembers
Mr. Gibson. Lowest ERA for a season for any "modern day" starting pitcher EVER,
17 strikeouts in game 1 of the '68 WS, the guy was a fierce competitor and would
bring the heat - sometimes AT you as needed.
Off the field, a genuine good dude and of course, a first ballot Hall of Famer.
RIP Bob. Another of my childhood heroes, gone...

R.I.P. Mr. Gibson I enjoyed watching him and the Cardinals at the old Sportsmans Ball park as a boy! We lost Lou Brock another Cardinal great recently also!

Omaha, specifically that part of Omaha, has lost both Gayle Sayers and Bob Gibson in in a short time frame.

Loved by all, still have his ball cards to this day. St Louis is sad today as another of it's own has gone to the field of dreams. R.I.P!!

I used to watch him pitch at Wrigley, RIP Bob!

What an intimidator on the mound!
When I was a kid living in Omaha in the mid '70s, we used to ride our bikes past his house.

R.I.P. to one of the all time greats.

As 69a100 stated, I too used to watch him at Wrigley. The best rivalry between any 2 baseball teams is the CUBS and the Red Birds. If you didn't get that then I guess it doesn't matter. But it still today is one of the best. Their collective History is long and exciting. Bob could pitch a game like no other. And when he went up against the CUBS Fergie Jenkins in a Mano a Mano game? Well one can only remember that greatness. RIP Bob...cr8crshr/Bill:praying::praying::praying::usflag::usflag::usflag:

I remember the 1968 World Series. We all watched it in school!!
First time the Detroit Tigers were in a Series since the 40s.

Had a Bob Gibson signature mitt in Little League. Went to a baseball clinic once and the instructor said I pitched like Bob Gibson ! Was a pretty happy kid that day.

Rest In Peace!
