Hey guys so alot has been going on here with me!
Still no work no one will hire me as I'm a liability. Still no disability!
Another baby on the way!!!!
So as some saw I pulled the plug on my charger build and have been selling the stock pile of parts I've been buying and storing over the years .
That's another story but one thing has kept me going with my cars all these years it's been the kid next door ! I meet him when he was 9 years old maybe 10 . Ever since his mom bought the house next door he's been hanging around because of all the cool cars . So at first it was annoying but then it occurred that maybe he was here more then his own home for a reason so I never ran him off instead I gave him simple task to do pull a valve cover or sort tools .
After awhile I found out his upbringing was /is rough mom is a looser that plays video games all day step dad is a a hole towards him ether one gives him no direction didn't make him go to school (didn't bring him)
So I decided to teach the kid anything I could to help him for his future! So fast forward over the years he's done car work wood working. Construction stuff ,demo work. Even gun safety .of course being a good person.

Well anyways since my car left and I had a few dollars hanging around I found and bought a 79 Camaro after I got the extra frame witch I needed I only had about $200 in this car. So I was looking the car over and since the kid is 14 now and in 2 years he will have a permit . I decided this car was in good enough shape to turn into a project car . So after screwing with him a bit (I bought a charger to part out the same day I got this Camaro )
He came home from school (got him to understand the importance of school) he sees charger first thing out of mouth was can I have it !!!!!!
I said no to rusty not worth fixing!
He got bummed out so told him to help me move some parts out back where he saw the Camaro. He looked at it said what's that I told him ,he said what are we doing with a Chevy! I told him it was time he had a project car and since he couldn't afford anything he's stuck with what he gets so a Chevy!

He got excited started tearing into it getting all the parts that were in it out to see what all was there!

So he now has a plan the cars definitely not perfect was an x race car but overall good enough. So he wants to turn it into a mad max style rat rod
It came with a 4" steal hood mint. Z28 fenders not terrible but not great . Decent doors everything else was decent enough . So I told him we need to get it rolling first
One of the 2 sub frames were rebuilt all the ball joints and bushings were new so he just has to put it back together and bolt it up !
Once that's done we need to set driveline in witch we got a motor and trans donated locally trans was a rebuild th350 the motor was a 305 but after he tore into it found a good 2" thick sludge everywhere push rods could only move up and down had to really pull them out to get them removed! So we're looking around for another one I can't afford to put alot of cash into this . So we're hoping someone else locally will step up with a better motor .
We got a pair of 77 corvette seats donated too .
So main goal is dirt cheap build with used everything to get the car moving and driving !
I told him once it's reliable and safe then he can start restoring it with newer parts as he can afford it .
I'm going to try and get him to join the site yes I know it's a Chevy but he can't afford a Mopar witch is what he wanted !
But maybe getting you guys giving him input we can keep him going strong with old cars and maybe one day he can get himself a Mopar to build!

Figured no harm if he trashes a Camaro but a mopar I can't let that be his first test subject!
Here's a few pictures
I know some of you guys don't like seeing other car project s and some do .
Let's see how this post goes and if there's enough interest I'll have him make a build thread!

Nah don't start that roomer!

He's gung hoe to join the military too now!
He wants to do helo repair!

This story reminds me of what my grandmothers favorite saying "We are only as good as what we leave behind"

Great job of being a "Father" for him!

What kind of work do you have experience in / are you looking for?

My experience is heavy equipment mechanic!
That's all I've done since high school! Witch is kinda the issue!
Broken back two surgeries in they won't touch you. Then you add in dislexea and 7-8 years if narcotics to help with pain
My Brain doesn't function like it should.
Then there's the I can't stand ,sit, walk very long
If I do anything wrong I'm in a great deal of pain !
So I do everything very slow .
It's just not good .
I started to build guns and get my FFL to sell guns but recent stuff has put gun stuff threw roof so I can't get into it right now !
Thank God I have a trailer I inherited from a guy I took care of a few years back basically he couldn't move and needed food preparation he had a feeding tube so I just hung around and helped him get back going (was a vet with no family near) was supposed to be temp but no nurses ever came . Took care of him for a year till he passed at 84 years old then found out he left me everything he owned .
Witch I'm renting the place out so that's income (when they freaking pay)
Don't get me wrong I'm making it . when I did work I worked 70-80 hours a week!
And since I worked so much never had time to spend my money add that with my first house I bought for 100000 lived in it for 4 years sold for $128000
Then Grandpa passed and me my brother and sister split his house sale at $50k each
I literally found a great house and payed cash for it ! So thank God on that !
I have been buying junk cars and parting them little by little (the kid helps alot here)
And making money there!
I just like to stuff Money away when big things are fixing to happen like new baby coming in 6 months or so .

I will survive ! I always do .
I would be in a tough spot if I didn't have this kid helping me around here that's why I decided to do this car for him !

Sadly the motor didn't work out so we're both kinda bummed out but I'll find something !

Hopefully something will come your way.
I'll keep my eyes open for anything you might be able to use.

Thanks but shipping would kill it. We would love to head home but probably after new baby comes wife's from long island and I'm from n.j. would be nice to see family . One day we will go up for a week or so

That's really great of you to help that kid out and give him some direction. You're a good dude, regardless of what people say.

hit me up when you come to ny state and we can meet up and ill donate a 350 to your project there.
a Good one.
and that body looks good too, around here there wouldnt be any subfloors left in that.

Wow alot of response ! I fear I won't be back in ny till my kids are grown up!
Sadly!
The body isn't bad I need to fix a floor pan issue some cut alit out for some reason maybe to weld a roll cage in maybe they were getting ready to tube the chassis out!?!?
But overall it's solid enough till he gets a mopar . I have a 72 charger flat hood that is rusted on beak I'm going to use that to fix floors so there's some mopar in it!
I actually have a 360 727 combo I was fixing to sell he's been wanting that but I really need to sell it to recoup some money on that part out as the more I go into the car the less stuff I'm getting!
If I was sole owner in the part out I would probably stuff that 360 in that Camaro just to upset the chevy guys! But me and my brother in-law are partner's he buys I take apart and sell once he gets his money back I make half of what's left over ! To some this may sound horrible but to me I didn't have it in first place anything is helpful and if car is a flop I don't loose my Money it's his money!

It's been working.
Anyways back to kid I'm going to sit down with him after school one day and make an account on here and show him how to us the site.

He did receive a nice set of corvette seats today to stick in car we were told we could have but didn't get them yet there nice brown leather! Just need tracks but was told I could steal a set out of a old parts car for the race car a 98 neon so I'll fab them to work in the car !
It's definitely going to be one of a kind!

Anyone know what happened to Bb70charger500 and his back surgery? I hope he's alright, I know he was selling off all his parts for his project Charger. Was wondering how his next door neighbour kid was doing on this project as well.

If at all you have a choice, it's not
worth rebuilding a 305. The worst
engine Chevy ever came out with.
Look for the guy who is small time
salvage who obtains most of his
income from crushing, not so much
the sale of salvaged parts. The 440
I have was bought in such a way.
$150.00. (and it ran).. I'm lucky
to have such a place a mile from
my house.
I can certainly relate to your situation
as I too, married, raised two kids,
have bought and sold 6 different
homes. (started out with a 12x60
mobile home) 48 years ago.
I have a paralyzed braceal plexus,
left side. I consider the full use of
my left hand, a miracle. Learned how
to pick up my kids with one arm
without hurting them.
I'm finishing up my 3rd ground up
rebuild, and have passed my tatents
to my son, as physical capabilities
grow more and more limited.
This all being a message of
inspiration. Never quit, never say
'I can't'.
What you're doing for this young lad
is commendable.
