Speedometer drive?

I have a '65 Plymouth Satellite 727 trans that has a bad speedometer outer cable at the trans. that is coming apart and binds up the inner drive cable. The cable and the speedo drive is all one piece. I know you can buy a new cable assy. but they are a little pricey. Anywhere from $129-$150. Is it possible there is a speedometer drive assy for the trans. so you can put a regular screw on cable?
