Working on two rear finish panels for my 69 Super bee. Looking for close black rattle can finish matches from the experienced members. Also would like to touch up my ashtray on the black rally dash. Appreciate any assistance.

I think I’ve asked similar questions as I am restoring my 69 super bee right now. A great member to reach out to who has a lot of great information is dadsbee.

I've had good experience in the past with Napa, I took my cars paint code to them and they made a spray can for me that matched my factory paint.

JMO......I think the VHT Hood Bumper & Trim is close. I think the ash tray front was originally suede finish like the top of the dash?? Maybe someone can confirm this.

I hate rattle can stuff but if I were to use it on that maybe Krylon fusion in satin black? IF you can still find it.The dash part may be harder to match. But I do like Krylon paint.

I like SEM Trim Black for that type of finish. Used it to refinish the trim on my Power Wagon and its hard to tell from the factory finish.

Tks. I've read alot of dadsbee restore pages, the guys got skills! I also tried the SEM trim paint before with good results. The interior (dash) is definitely a different animal.

Are you talking the interior upper trim plates?? If so they are supposed to be gloss X9 Black, same as the interior door shell, just like would have gone on the exterior of a black car...

No, I have those rear panels freshly painted gloss black waiting for me to polish the chrome trim that goes with them. First question was the rear finish panel around the tail lights which I may use the SEM trim paint, second question was my ashtray, which looks like it was heavily used in the 70s and is now a different shade of black. I'll try and post a picture in a bit.

Not a great picture, but shows the difference between the metal ashtray and the padding.

I painted it somewhere too... Same paint I used on the dash.. in the Dodgecharger.com section of my restoration thread. Duplicolour Trim 70000 I think.. let me go look...

EDIT.... looks like I may have used the SEM 39143 trim for the ash tray, same as I used on the heat control panel. I'd have to check my notes... if I knew where I put them.. LOL

I also agree with other member on the sem trim black.... excellent quality spray paint

This is SEM's rattle can vinyl paint, I was amazed at just how nice it worked on dad's dash (used to be tan). I'm not a fan of rattle can but for interior stuff.. maybe.

747- Wow. That came out great. Thanks FBBO for the excellent assistance and advice. Here's a driveway shot of my unfinished hotrod. I've been sneaking her out of the garage putting in some break in miles. :usflag:

I'll add I was told to only wash with water based cleaners so I scrubbed the nasty areas with an aggressive cleaner then a good scrubbing with dish soap and water.

Nice ride!

I used Krylon Colormatch Flat for the dashpad and Kylon Fusion Matte for the ashtray. To me that looked the most correct and within my budget for a driver.

What do you think?....

Hey RGAZ, that came out great also. I was only going to paint the ashtray but may try and freshen up the pad also.
