69 Dana rear in a 72 B Body?

Ive been offered a 69 dana rear at a decent price. I want o put it in my 72 charger. I realize the 69 is 3" shorter. If I move the perches accordingly will it work? I know I will lose 1 1/2" offset on the rims, but is it a practical swap??

Dr diff has a bolt in offset spring kit for your car that moves the springs in, 1 1/4" per side. That will give you back some of the back spacing that you will lose.

Rims with less back spacing will help too. There are some customs wheels available in most any back spacing.

just more offset on your rear rims , they will look very deep , and you'll be able to get more rim and tire in the fender like those of yesterday .

It's more of a back space thing not offset.
Front wheel drive cars have rims with a lot of back spacing and more offset
Rear wheel drive cars have more back spacing and little if any offset.
Order a set of wheels with 4.5" positive offset and see what you get. Won't fit over the brakes and will look really weird. I guess you could order move negative offset but I always just adjusted the back spacing for what I needed.

Here is an example. Had Stockton Wheel make up some 15"x15" Rallyes with 8" of back spacing. Wanted them to look stock from the side but really wide from the rear.
The first set they screwed up and had 1.5" positive offset. They wouldn't even fit over 10" drum brake let alone the brakes I was using. So they made another set with no offset and they worked great. 700.00 for a pair of wheels they had to be right.
