Eddie van Halen won't be jumping down for breakfast today

His ex Valerie Bertinelli said this:
“40 years ago my life changed forever when I met you,” she wrote. “You gave me the one true light in my life, our son, Wolfgang. Through all your challenging treatments for lung cancer, you kept your gorgeous spirit and that impish grin. I’m so grateful Wolfie and I were able to hold you in your last moments. I will see you in our next life my love.”

The little Bully from Christmas story was in the Hot for teacher video. Not sure which one he was but Im thinking he played younger Michael. I met him when doing some electrical upgrades to his Gym in Woodstock Georgia. His name is Yano Anaya. The funny thing was he played nothing but Van Halen in the Gym while I was in there working.. I thought that was pretty cool. So if doing the six degrees of Kevin Bacon I can get to Eddie Van Halen in one shot... Just by meeting Yano Anaya.

I saw them live in the early 80's and at the time I had no idea who they were but I was amazed at his guitar skills.

Seen them in 78 with Eddy Money as back up and in 1980 with Bon Jovi as back up..

Another one gone!! R.I.P.

Bought Diver Down new in '82.

Saw them at Monsters of Rock in '88.

First concert in FL after moving from OH.

Drove my '70 Super Bee.

I discovered them (first album) after hearing "Running with the Devil" on the radio while in high school.
It was about that time we were figuring out how to install stereos in our cheap assed cars - and yes,
my first copy of their debut was on 8-track.

I had no idea how GOOD that first album actually sounded until my brother got a good home stereo
complete with a decent turntable - quite an eye-opener then!
Theirs was a totally different sound than anything I'd heard before (sort of like Boston before them) -
nobody played like that, sounded like that.

We enjoyed the explosion of guitar heroes that came afterwards (and I still do!), but Eddie was the
forefather of that whole movement - and yes, as cliche' as it sounds, they were the soundtrack of
life back in HS days.

No, I don't think what they did to Michael Anthony was proper - nor do I understand to this day why
he and Bertinelli had to be divorced, yet it's quite obvious there's a lot of love there - but there ya go.
RIP Eddie.
May you be jamming with your father again today, just like you wished for.

I have to say that the 2 bands that I seemed to always hear about back in the late 70's early 80's was first Kiss and the Van Halen, the next big splash was GNR but somewhere along there I found AC/DC

I just fired up the first album. During Eruption she says “you think you got that loud enough”, I retort “it only has one volume, 11”, lol.

Was never a fan of his music. But saying that, I will admit that his guitar work defined a greatness from within. Still too damn young to be passing at 65. Damn that smoking of tobacco and other substances will FOOK ya up and he paid that price. RIP Eddie...cr8crshr/Bill:praying::praying::praying::usflag::usflag::usflag:

All great ones and some of my favorites.

Poor Bastard. Rest in Peace. Goddam cigarettes. I loved them too. Jump.

he will always be remembered he brought joy into everyone's life and that's a good thing.

When I was in college, we had two opposing dorms fairly close to one another. So it started one weekend when a bunch of us were playing frisbee football in the center courtyard. One of the guys put his speakers up against his dorm room window screen playing anything from Marshall Tucker, Doobies to Led Zep. That night someone from the opposite dorm cranked up some BTO and the stereo wars were on. Who could out play the other dorm. I had some JBL studio monitors with a Sansui 2000x receiver...and I had Van Halen's first album....Running with the Devil, Eruption, and Really Got Me...there was not a stereo that out performed those JBLs and Van Halen rocked the hell out of that courtyard. I'm smiling just think'n about those days. Running with the Devil just sounds so damn good cranked up........thanks for all the memories Eddie. They will last a lifetime, as will your contribution to music.....and those that wanna rock..we salute you.
