68’ Coronet 440. New to the game here with this build/first car for my 15 yr old. Appreciate all of the forum information and most questions are already answered. We have the steering column out to check bearings, rebuild the shoes, and convert it over from auto to stick shift. Is there a clock spring in these models to be concerned with/breaking by free turning the wheel?
We have the car all the way down already except for the rear end which will get addressed when the springs and shocks come in. It will be a daily driver so I am not overly concerned about making the bottom look pretty but I learned my lesson on my first car(67’ Mustang) to go ahead and pull it down and fix it now vs spending a bunch of time after completion chasing gremlins.
General plan is: 440, Tremco 5 speed, disc brakes X4, 1.03 T bars, 440 springs, 3.55 gears, K frame is out so every joint/bushing replaced. The body is outstanding and we have already PORed the interior. That is some nasty stuff!
A/c box is out and is on the list to rebuild. Real pain in the butt getting that thing out.
