Our Car values

It doesn't matter how much you have in your car, it doesn't matter how many you have. It's about driving the wheels off it. Investments are for money and homes, not making someone deal with your old car. Before I die I will be giving my car to someone or sell the damn thing, makes no difference to me, you can't take it with you. I don't need bragging rights on how many cars I have and don't use. There may be a story behind you car, trust me, at the end of the day, only you care. Yes, I enjoy my car very much and I'm proud to own it, but, like any hobby, it's your hobby. Others may like to look at it, but ,don't want one or can't afford one. So, with 273.6 million gas powered vehicles on the road right now, I don't really see even the liberals' being able to get them all off the street any time to soon, don't worry, you'll be driving your car till you can't. As for you guys that are keeping them for investment, please enjoy them while you can.

Diligently doing all I can to use up those nasty fossil fuels.
Today I'll burn up about 35-40 gallons.
Slowly but surely...

In your "Green deal" has anyone actually said that older and classic cars will be banned from your roads....using those actual words.....or are you just assuming? We have a green deal thing going on ("Zero emissions"...yeah right.....on all new cars sold after 2035).....it does not affect older cars at all. I can still drive my old cars and my DD diesel ALFA until it dies....or I do! They will just rely on the natural thinning of the IC cars herd through natural wastage, being written off getting too old/rusty to pass the inspection etc etc. Cant believe its not the same over there.....scrapping lots of old cars and then getting all the raw materials and energy to build new ones is far from green! With current tech your country is far to big to run full electric cars with major changes in power infrastructure anyway.....its easy here (and pretty much already exists) in a country you cant drive any further than about 800miles!!….that's just two or three charges on a good EV.

Very well stated. I’m on a bunch of sites; here, ham radio, gun stuff etc...
I can’t count the times someone has said “I’m not selling my (car-gun-ham radio),I’m leaving it to my grandkids”.
Guess what, your grandkids don’t want it! It’s your hobby, it’s interesting only to you! They want the money, and can’t wait for us to croak so they can sell our **** and buy what they want. So drive your car, or sell it to someone who will actually appreciate it. When you die, your kids and grandkids can fight over the money. It’s what they want. Don’t believe me? Every one of them has already figured out what your stuff is worth. They don’t care that it’s a Hemi Charger. They care that it’s a $100k Hemi Charger. Hmmm...

My opinion is that if all cars are going to be electric and/or autonomous in say 2035....this will mean a massive jump in classic car prices in the future.....

i read today that on a study Hagerty did 57% of Millennials are interested in owning a classic car, (this is well ahead of boomers) and most people only gain enough money when they're about 40-50yrs old to purchase a second car for a hobby....now imagine in a world of autonomous cars, our old analogue cars are going to be SERIOUSLY sought after for the refreshing Sunday drive......now this doesn't mean it'll be cars from the 60's....it may be 90's JDM or the likes.....BUT i honestly think that the idea of future generations not being interested in cars is not the case yet, it will probably only be the next generations who never even learnt how to drive.....the Gen Z's kids or the likes...

Anyhow, I'm a millennial and I'm 1 of the 57% who in 2035 when I'm 44 will certainly be wanting to drive my car....not sit in and be driven...(except when i've had a few too many beers)

There's other factors that could influence, depression...gas prices, insurance prices....etc.....however, i feel confident, that even with the move away from the cars we know today.....to whatever in the future....people are going to want the good ol driver experience....and that's what's made the prices rise over the years....and if they go seriously cheap....i will be here to buy them off you

Probably going to ban gasoline cars, just like they banned horses and steam engines when the ICE became the norm.

There's a lot of old photos showing horses pulling broke down horseless carriages along or getting them pulled out of the muck. Imagine the old timers laughed about all the idiots buying cars back then...lol.

i honestly dont think they will or can ban historic gas vehicles....all they could do is make you pay a fee for using it....however there's going to be a serious outcry....

unless the government buys everyones vehicle off them...

Haha, this is an interesting comment!!....
There's still a market for horses tho....but yeh, i would imagine eventually in many generations to come, people will have moved on and transport could change completely making cars not that interesting and/or forgotten altogether, however i dont see this happening in my lifetime...so i dont give a ****

I'm good if Uncle Sam wants to pay me for what I put in mine - around $40k instead of the hope of getting around half this for it otherwise. Tow it out of da garage tomorrow...lol.

Well ahh...speaking of ****...horse **** caked the streets back when creating a lot of methane 'emissions', imagine if we all had horses for our transport today...

anyhow....even if you lose some money on your car, who cares, there's other hobbies that are more expensive, take travel for instance, you'd happily pay a travel agency your hard earned, knowing that it's never coming back......so in that way, classic cars are actually an extremely cheap hobby and shouldnt be looked as something to just make money on....my $0.02

It will be your patriotic duty to donate your cars to support the government's need for metals. Maybe you'll be permitted to deduct a token amount from your taxes.

I never bought my car with the thought of making money. It was bought to enjoy driving it as much I can. It is a hobby and that should always be remembered. It's extra money spent for having fun when everything else has been taken care of. There will always be a market for almost anything old or new, people collect things from cars to pocket knifes. As the old saying goes, "there's a lid for every pot". You bring inspiration to the table, you I like!! When my day comes and no one wants it, you never know, maybe you'll get a deal you can't refuse.

On the topic of car values, like to share a story about throwing my car up for sale at a car corral some years back mostly for curiosity as I spent most of my time touring the swap meet. This is before my final phase of restoration as was pondering on maybe getting another car before taking the deeper plunge on the resto. I was asking $15k and had receipts and photos involving close to $20k in it already. I left my cell # on the windshield for reasonable offers. One guy left a VM with an offer of $5k. I ahh didn't bother returning the call. He apparently waited for me to return to my car coming up to me all miffed that I hadn't returned his call! WDF! I had to say "You're actually serious, thinking I should a returned your call with your offer?" I went on to say "I paid more than this when I bought the friggin car". Been through similar chats at shows with some guys saying "You wanna sell your car?" My response "Everything's for sale at the right price". Then it goes "Well what do you want for it?" I say "Make me an offer." Then they come back "What will you take for it?" Then I say "Just make an offer if you're interested." Friggin hilarious as zero doubt whatever price I'd say low or high, would garner "Oh ouch, I couldn't pay that much." I could be raped; but would like a kiss first anyway...

well, i just had a look at your garage and I do reckon i'd struggle to refuse the right offer

I'm front Australia so probably doesn't affect me that much, but just interested what the green deal is??....
It's a marxist scheme pretending to be about the environment whose real purpose is to subvert America, tear down our society and our way of life and convert the USA into a communist totalitarian puppet state.
