Would you put aftermarket parts in an original survior car?

Whats your opinion?

  • I would only install 100% correct parts but quality aftermarket parts wont deprecate the cars value

I would just go noe or oem , nothing fits better than these parts ( with having the correct thickness and contours in the metal )
But as for soft part(s) ( like rubber hoses and weatherstripping ) , would go aftermarket along with bushings and ball joints
It just depends at what the pocket book allow and the miss ( if ones in the picture for the OKE )

Well thanks for all your opinions.
I think i will stick to original equipment for now.

But once everything's fixed i really hope the car doesn't break to often because this stuff ain't cheap. :D
I actually thought everything's fixed (except mufflers) until i noticed the cooling system isn't stock and also does not work as it should.

Agree with Mopar Hunter about getting in touch with Bob at Glen Ray. I have used his stuff in 4 cars now with no issues. He should have the correct radiator for your car in stock. Shipping to Germany will be expensive I am sure, but you will have the correct part in the end.

It depends on the condition of the car and what parts we are talking about.

Believe it or not one of the tings I don't like to use aftermarket is bolts.

I harvest USA Mopar bolts from various sources, even to include later model vehicles such as 80's and 90's Mopars.

sure why not if they are quality parts

they're only original once
any part that's replaced is different from the org.'s

I would replace stuff as needed with decent aftermarket but would hold on to org stuff.as time goes by you can find a correct rad and have it set aside I'd be mad if I put in a org and something happened to it why your driving it . If it was in a museum then yes all nos stuff only but your driving it stuff happens rads will brake if an aftermarket gos not a big deal go get another probably with a lifetime warranty . Keep the org stuff for the guy who likes looking at the car and not driving it !

It really depends. It used to be that even when these cars were in their hay day, that often times when repairs were being done, that other than OEM parts often times were used instead. So that being said, I have quite a number of non OEM parts and after market parts in my 66 Ply Sat. Just personal preference I guess...cr8crshr/Bill:usflag::usflag::usflag:

Guy #3, look at the dent in my hood from my 50 year old belt blowing off when I jumped on it.

Just make sure you get the proper attaching brackets on the 26 bbody rad as this will determine if the correct shroud will attach to rad, there are a few different ones out there as for other same year mopars, get a good reference pic n compare.

The repops were throwing off pretty regularly also. So a repop must be just as bad as a 50 year old belt. You can't win!

Not sure what you are refuring to about belts, but i was talking about the supports that are soldered on top n bottom of tanks, they have the mounting bolts attached to them and if you have the proper ones there is no problem attaching the correct shroud

My mistake! I mixed up my quoting. Apologies.
