Hi... everyone....

My Dodge R/Ts rear finish panel being pot metal needs rechromed

I am looking for a chrome plating company that does good work on pot metal.

All the plating companies i dealt with in Michigan the past have closed up.

Willing to send out of state..

As always any input is welcome and appreciated...

Cambridge Custom Chrome in Cambridge, Ontario. He does a LOT of stuff for U.S. customers as well as world-wide.

Paul’s is one place that comes to mind unfortunately snakeoil is right on.The grinding needed to remove the original plating takes away from the defined lines of the piece.

Custom chrome plating in Grafton Ohio (30 minutes west of Cleveland) does exceptional work.

I had them restore 2 pot metal boat emblems for me. They were really pitted. When I received them back, they were like jewelry

2nd on Paul’s but they’re not cheap.

Pauls quoted me 1800 to 2000 to do an RT finish panel

I had Pauls before I restored my XKEs tail lights in 1990s and they were expensive as i remember.

The tail light bezels had to be straiten from being squashed into the body by screws.

They were about 5 sheets paper thin white metal..... i could not believe they fix them perfectly.

I have a nice hemi car hopefully and i am not going to comprise what i do.

My rear finish panel chrome is just weak plating maybe a couple pits at most.

I do only quality work only........ so far i still am not underwater on expenses luckily.

I say.........One more car please in my prayers.

My finish panel isn't badly pitted.... I was told 1500 to 2000

Did all Mopars in the 60s and 70s come with poor chroming?

My chrome is fair... but its thin chrome with tiny cracks and small pocks (not like the disease) .... it could be buffed for a better look.

My car must have been garaged out of the sunlight contributing less white metal pocking is what I believe.

I just bought new repo taillight bezels.

Iverson Automotive in Minneapolis Or St Paul Mn. He has a website that explains a lot of the process. Expensive, and could take a few months But I don't think there could be any better. He did a piece for me that had many pits.. Kept his word on price and when it would be done......... MO
