This goes hand in hand with my post about plugs and wires.

So, when I start the car (71-440) it fires up just fine and runs smooth while the choke is engaged. As soon as it warms up and choke is disengaged it starts to miss and backfire. I have removed the plugs and checked them. I did a swap on a questionable cylinder (plug was black with carbon and wet) with a known good wire, but still have the same result. I have not been able to adjust the mixture since it all goes to hell as soon as it is warmed up.

Color me perplexed ( or dumb)

Ignition issues, ECU, dizzy maybe going south... check for vacuum leaks. Never said how old the build was or what carb.

I think we should try the AFB that I have.

ive got edelbrock carbs just laying around if you are in need.
plus im located in springwater, about 30 mins away from your town.
it does sound carb related if it runs fine till the choke comes off.
either fuel restrictions or dirt or an actual vacuum leak.
have you tried looking directly down into the carb and seeing if the fuel spray is steady from Both boosters ?

It is a steady spray from both.

I might have to come see you. I have to relatively quick checks to make. First one being a fuel regulator. My electric pump is preset to 7psi
