Looking for review on these cams for my 512. Its going in a 69 Bee so the usual 3300lbs car with 28 in tires 3:55 gears, Holly sniper EFI, ported alum heads. Street only car. Is anybody running them and how do they perform for you ?

I run an engle 244 @ .050 and .539 lift in my 500" stroker with the 3.55 gears and 28" tires but carbureted. It has a 4 speed, but the car idles rough and will boil the tires on command from almost idle through the whole power band. I am not sure I would go much larger cam wise as I don't race and there seems to be no benefit above 5500-6000 RPM for me. With street tires, there is no chance of traction anyway.

I am running the .564 in a 512. It is a six pack. With 440 Source heads.
It has plenty of power and a very nice sound at idle. Vacuum might be too low for power brakes. I use an electric pump so does no bother me.
I really like the cam. I had a Mopar 509 cam in the 440 before I blew it it up... This is a nicer cam. Still breaking it in so I shift at 5500. It is still pulling. 355 gears . 26 inch tall 17 inch tires

i thought kern dog just got a comp cam that was very ruff on the Finnish grind.

Honestly...and this is just one man's opinion...but if you're looking at that much cam I'd very seriously consider a solid flat tappet. Both of those cams require adjustable rockers, they're gonna be just as noisy as a solid, and then throw in the possible (common) hydraulic lifter issues.
And, your compression and available fuel really needs to be considered.

I ran the .545 in my 512 years ago in my 71. With those cubes it would easily handle the bigger .564.
Honestly though, even though the initial cost is more, I’d go to a solid or hydraulic roller depending on what your final goal is? Since I’ve made the switch to a roller, I’ll never go back. More power. Greater lifespan. I don’t see a downfall other than initial setup cost.

I would think with EFI you'd want a smoother idle.....

efi check overlap and lca requirements
can't say anything without the details like what eas mentioned abve and head flows, rockers etw

I run the .545 on my 64 Belvedere in a 440. It is almost identical to the original Max wedge cam.sounds great, plenty of power but a little rough on the idle but doesn't bother me as it's a 4 speed. I run the Isky.600 solid roller in my 512 dart. Smoother idle and a little better street manners

The car will weigh about 500 lbs more than what you wrote.
Manufacturers spec on vehicle weight are as accurate as their numbers for compression ratios and HP !
Weigh the car and get the real number, not some "published" number.
My '70 Charger weighed 3660 with the stock 318.
3750 with a 440/727.
4000 now even with aluminum heads.

I’m running a hydraulic roller custom grind from comp in my 505 pump gas street motor only with trick flow 240 heads, using factory power brakes. It’s .541” with 113 LSA, auto transmission, 3:55 axle. Make sure you spec the cam for EFI so you have the correct vacuum pulse through the EFI / fuel delivery to run correctly.

My experience is the less vacuum there is the less the system will auto learn and you have to do lots of manual programming which isn’t a bad thing.

Widening the LSA should help. I used a 112 to help smooth out the idle

I've been in touch on the Holley efi forums, I have the Terminator, due to initial tuning issues. From what I gather the base tunes can handle up to 240° after that you will have to start modifying your fueling tables. I dont know what you can do with the Sniper as far as tuning...
I'm an amateur and still learning so take it for what its worth...

I agree with Kern Dog about the weight comments. Have a 69 Belvedere with light centerlines, lighter MT tires, aluminum top and front end on the motor and a Fiberglass hood and it weighs 3565 with a full tank of gas. Short of Fiberglass fenders, bumpers, trunk lid, and rear seat delete I don’t know how you’d get it to 3300 pounds

As for the cam, might I suggest trying a Hughes. I have this grind https://www.hughesengines.com/Index...b3cgRGVjayk=&level1=Q2Ftc2hhZnQ=&partid=30256 on a 451 cubic engine and am extremely happy. Lots of ‘go’ and descent idle with about 13 inches vacuum. Although I don’t care about vacuum requirements at all on this car.

I think I’m just about to pull the trigger on a Holley Sniper next with the correct fuel tank with in-tank pump etc….

The picture is the cars weight in kilograms. Multiple by 2.2 to get pounds

Interesting... I thouht that all scales in the US were showing pounds, not kilograms :)
