If a 69 gtx was a 4 speed did it have to come with a dana or could it have a 8.75..I'm thinking yet it could have. Looking into purchasing one

Jerry was it 67 or 68 that all 4 speeds had danas with a 440 or hemi? I vaguely thought the 4 speed cars with 3.23 gears or 3.55 got a 8.75" in 67 and back? Can't remember all the little details.

Actually in 66 B bodies the Dana was in the Hemi 4-speeds. There were no 440's in the B bodies in 66. So for 67-71 440 4-speed cars the Dana would be correct. Maybe someone else can tell you about Dana use in 72 up 440's.

440 & Hemi 4-speeds had Danas in 67. I believe that 4-speed 383 cars would have had an 8 3/4 & 3:23's.

Yup clarifies it now....That is what I thought just never thought of all the different combos from years. So basically if you got a stick car with the 440 or hemi it was a Dana 3.54 or 4.10.

More likely a 3.54 in a 4-spped. 4.10's would have been more likely in the automatic cars. Along the same lines as standard equipment in the A12 cars.

Huh??? Yes you could get an optional 4:10 Dana with a 727 440/440-6 or Hemi but I've seen very few... I have seen & owned lots of 4:10 Dana 4spds....

Don't forget some 440 4 speeds got the 3.31 Dana

3.31 Dana? Only two I know available are the 3.54 and 4.10 ratios

So what's the easiest way to tell it's a real gtx. Its missing the fender tag but has vin and title. It matches the core support and trunk drip rail he says. Sorry been out the game for a bit just want to make sure it's a true gtx

You just had to spend the extra dough to get the next car size up! (ie; full size ). And the Dana wasnt a 60

Check the VIN, second digit should be S... So it should be RS23

The 3.31 dana 53,9 1/4" was used in 440 4 speed C bodies, and was intended for 440 4 speed B bodies as well, but I don't know if any were made that way. It would be rare. My 67 shop manual lists it for B bodies with 440 4 speed.

FWIW C body didn't get a Dana 60.... The axle was similar but not a Dana 60.....

The only Dane 60 that got a 3.31 gear that I'm aware of was from a Ford Truck.....
