Can anyone tell me the factory finish on the brake booster? It looks like mine was silver zinc but who knows if it was done before.

Thanks,

Eric

My 67 Satellite has factory disk brakes and the "hemi" booster. I am fairly sure that the booster was still original when I bought the car in 1987. The paint that was still on it was black. Drum brakes used a different booster so not sure if they were the same color.

I’ve never seen anything other than black.

why is it considered a hemi booster?

Not sure now that you ask. I've heard people refer to it as such and always thought it referred to the offset bracket that was needed to clear the hemi. I'll have to check my parts book to see if there is really anything unique.

I have the offset bracket on my car but most boosters still don’t fit with a Hemi.
I am not sure the difference in size etc

Hemi boosters have a different bolt pattern on the back.

Parts book only has 1 listing for b-body disc brake booster, p/n 2881 548 (Bendix dual diaphragm). Indicates its for 8 cyl, but no other distinction. However, the catalog has this graphic for hemi b-body which looks just like the setup on my 383 car.

You have the bracket pictured on engine side of firewall? The bracket is to raise booster so it clears Hemi's valve cover.

440 got the same raised up bendix booster

And the Hemi pictured has the wrong master cylinder. ?

Switched to dual master, from 66 single master. I should find one for drums with brake lines on other side.
Never knew 440 had the brackets?

I believe you are incorrect.. My 67 RT does not have it
EDIT... Its been a few years since I restored this car so my brain had to catch up.. My car did NOT come with PB, I took the brackets and booster from a 318 parts car and installed them into my car, they work fine with its 440....
