Mini Starter Doesn’t Fit

Anyone else have a problem with the Power Master 9523 and the Mopar Performance mini starters fitting a 69’ 440 block with 727 automatic transmission?

I’m using the factory lower starter stud and when I install these mini starters they go on but the top bolt hole doesn’t line up. I can see where the starter housing is hitting the cylinder block forcing the starter to on side causing the upper starter bolt hole to move off center from the transmission bolt hole.

Engine is all detailed and finished so I don’t really want to start grinding on the cylinder block. I’m using TTI headers and wanted to go with a mini starter if possible. Otherwise I’ll have to use the original starter I guess...
 
Had no problem with a $60 NAPA mini starter on my hemi, except the nose was tight.
 
That's a clock-able starter? Should be able to loosen up the allen screw, find where it clears, mark it, tighten the allen screw.

I had a NIPPONDENSO right from MOPAR. Hit the block.... 10 minutes with a dremel.... problem solved. And yes HEMI
 
Yep clock-able, that’s why I bought it. Loosened up nose on starter and rotated it from side to side and doesn’t clear in any position.

Send it back and get a Dakota starter.

I thought they made one exclusively for the 440 mopar that even had the positive terminal switched to the outside. Opposite from the picture I posted.

Did it come with bushings for the bolt holes also?

Yes one bushing for the upper bolt hole. Using the bushing makes the alignment even worse. I’ll look at it closer tomorrow, just pisses me off when you spend money supposedly buying an adjustable / quality part and the **** doesn’t fit right. Thought that was the purpose of having the adjustment. Frustrated right now.
 
I buy a lot of parts and lately it seems like stuff being sold for our Mopars is such **** quality. You have to double and triple check everything!! Then if there’s a problem and you call the company they act like they’ve never heard of the problem and blow you off the phone. Then they expect you to pay the return freight cost for their crap that doesn’t fit what they catalog and say it fits.
 
Yep I use Dakota starters on everything. Just installed one on my 78 D100 today. I've used them on several Hemis.

I had to take a small amount off my block to get mine to work and the studd is real close to the torsion bar I think been so long since I put it on but had to put a rubber cap on the studd
 
I also had to clean some casting up for mine to fit, couple seconds with a rotary file.
