Looks like Dodge marketing is sucking me in. I’m thinking about getting my wife a 2020 Scat Pack Charger. I swore after our new Journey back in 09 or 10 I would never buy another new Dodge, that thing was nothing but problems. Brakes and blowing out AWD PTO seals. 10k miles and I had enough.

I’m looking for first hand experience with the late model Chargers with the 392. Issues, regrets, likes, dislikes, etc.

TIA.

Make sure to compare prices to "Costco" car purchase program. Then go to your dealer. I looked at pricing a '20 Challenger scat pack wide body 392 with manual trans for $45k.

We have a 17 Scat Pack Challenger...bought it with 3,400 miles on it and, in a bout a year my wife has put almost 20,000 miles on it. Needless to say she loves it. We had an issue with the touch screen but, the dealer did an update and its been fine. I will say the brakes are squeeky and i have heard a lot of people talk about this issue and, its caused by the slotted and drilled rotors. I guess its nature of the beast. Right after we bought it her and I took it on a 2200 mile road trip and, it was comfortable and, a blast to drive. Nothing bad to say about it. They dont come with a spare tire so we bought a kit that has the tire and jack. From the factory the have an air pump and tire sealer in the trunk.

Thanks for the replies. I have to check tomorrow with my work, I know we get supplier pricing with GM and I think they do X code or something with Ford. Not sure about FCA.

I’ll have to look for the spare tire on the Charger. Thanks for brining that up.

I was shopping/searching earlier this year for a 2020 Scat Pack Charger; and none were to be found because of the pandemic. All were "enroute" some dealers would tell you...should be here in two weeks. Yeah, right. Other dealers would tell you they didn't know when they would arrive. Anyway, I digressed.

I ended up buying my wife a 2020 Dodge Charger R/T Plus (5.7 liter HEMI) back in June. We love it so far. No complaints and no issues. The car was ordered by the dealer without a sunroof. That is a BIG plus in my book and my wife didn't care one way or the other. Better headroom and less weight with no sunroof...and who wants a heavy weight in the roof...spoils the cg:D. Also, for long term ownership, I don't want to deal with sunroof motor, seals, mechanisms, and etc. in the future.

It sits really low to the ground. You have to be careful not to scrape the underside of the front spoiler.

The infotainment is probably the best I have seen...equal or better than the BMW I-drive.

The HID headlights are pretty darn good, but not as good as BMW Bi-xenon headlights. I like the Charger HID better than the standard Dodge headlights.

Sounds great and especially sounds great in sport mode (higher rpm shift points, etc.).

I replaced the nice looking floor mats with floor mats from Weather Tech...I like them more...easier to vacuum out the sand. Also, I bought a Weather Tech cargo liner for the trunk. Everything fits like a glove.

Yep, no spare tire. The car came with a mobility kit. I bought a couple of cans of Fix-a-Flat, but will only put them in the trunk during the cooler months. The spare tire kit I saw on-line for Chargers was for police cars. That thing is enormous and takes up a lot of trunk space.

IndiGo blue.

Our last new vehicle purchase was 30 years ago...a Dodge Ram Charger. I normally buy previously obsessed over used cars.:D

Thanks for the reply @DeltaV !

Well, a test drive and that all it took. Just got back from the dealer. Pick it up tomorrow PM.

Silver with red interior, black out on hood only. I think my wife was more excited than I was, her car. Kids were grinning ear to ear on the test drive.

Gorgeous scenery! where are you located?

Not a Scat-whatever, but our 2012 Charger R/T has proven trouble-free for over 80k miles now
and we have no plans to replace it - and yes, it's a full dresser complete with sunroof.
Sorry @DeltaV . :)

If I was still married I'd buy one for my wife too!

Hey good luck with it and have fun. Congrats!
Thx! You know... 2 birds 1 stone.

I had no idea these cars were this wild. Line lock, launch control. I thought all that was only on the Hellcat. I know there’s more than just a blower to the Hellcat over the Scat Pack but holy cow. After all the years on this platform they figured out how to make a 4K+ pound car not feel like a 4K car.

Well, car is in the garage. Now I need to read manuals for awhile.

That's exactly what I tell people who ask - whereas the Challenger feels every bit of its' weight and girth,
the Charger for whatever reason doesn't - the car drives "lighter and smaller" than it actually is.

Congratulations, she's a beauty!! The only bad thing about that car is it looks just like a cop car when you come flying up behind me. Damn near had a heart attack a few times when I am in my truck with the hammer down.
I've spooked a few people with my wife's car because of the GSP blue which is similar, but somewhat different than IndiGo blue.

Yeah, I love that part.
Left lane of the interstate just seems to open right up for me. :)
