WTB 1970 440 engine block

Paint is done and now I need a block to rebuild! The motor I have was cast on 10-11-67. I spent an arm and a leg on paint so It's the least I could do to put in the correct year block! I see one on ebay right now for $2900 for a bare block. That seems a bit pricy. So, if anyone has one sitting around, please help me out! Thanks!

Are you looking for a regular 440 or HP block. I have one and know where there is another 70 440 HP block. I think I can still contact him.

What plaMy was your car built at. I think the one i don’t have here is a G plant. ( St. Louis)
 
You guessed it. Mine is a St. Louis car! I'm willing to let something like that slide, though...
 
There is no structural difference between an HP block and a NON HP.
What is the build date of the car? The engine date code should be at least 2 months prior to the build date of the car.
I have a 11-11-69 Date 440 from a 1971 Chrysler 300.

Standard bore. The #6 cylinder will certainly need a rebore though.
I may be looking for a early October 1969 block for my red car.
 
The main thing you are looking for is the HP stamping and a casting date and a build date prior to your build date. I still would not pay more than $1000-$1500 for that. A regular 440 std pass car block will be just as good. A real nice std bore will be $750 or less. It’s hard to find an HP block that is a premium piece.

Yeah, I know the internals make a high performance motor, not 2 letters stamped on the pad. I'd like the HP just for aesthetics and personal satisfaction. I'm going for a stock looking engine bay.
 
I have a 70 that has been sonic checked. It’s not an HP block though. Standard bore greased and bagged. I’d swap for the 67 but it looks like you’re in ND. That’s a haul!!

Shipping is a deal killer sometimes. It will probably cost $400 on top of the block purchase. The block is going to cost $1000. I’m waiting on pictures. I know the motor is a .030 without much wear but I won’t know that until I put a mic on it. I use custom pistons on all my builds and just hone it to the next best size size with a torque plate. They are not that expensive. I paid $700 for the last set. You can get any size. Probably this block would go .040.
