I have a Edelbrock CH4B (dual plane) intake and an Edelbrock 1411 (750 cfm) carb. Like new and $0 cost. Want to use it on a '72 440. Thoughts?

Sounds like a perfect fit.
Is the engine stock, mildly modified or worked up into a beast?

I agree^^^ When it's free it's for me !
Truthfully the C4HB is close in performance to a stock Iron manifold but way lighter.
Much like the dual plane M1 that Mopar had.

It does make more power. A good amount in the area it is designed for. For sure, better than stock!

The CH4B is definitely an upgrade from the factory and M1 dual plane intakes.

Should I use a spacer under the carb? Have those laying around too.

Spacers are something that I've learned over the years just need to be tried out. Any given spacer never seems to work the same on two engines....just be aware of the changes to any linkages, throttle cable etc. Some carb re-adjusting may be necessary but you might be pleasantly surprised at the results.
