I just bought a 1970 Roadrunner. I think its a 383 with an automatic transmission. Rust color with a little of the original purple still showing.

Post some pictures and let's figure out which engine you have. Take some close ups at the front of intake of the block

Hello everyone!! Mark brought me here. Im new at this forum thing. See if I can figure out how to post pictures. I just got my Roadrunner started, with oil pressure. I took the oil pump and pan off. I found a shop rag in the oil pan, wrapped around the pick up tube . Guy before me probably should not work on cars, lol.

Yes, they are always happier when they are not on the rag.
 
I think it is, but im definitely not an expert. Its original color is purple for sure. I'll try and get more pics of engine.
