My 63 soon to be a racer again. Waiting for the aluminum fenders and hood to come back from the shop. Then go to paint. Has been over a 2 year project, but getting close. Ready to go racing in the spring.

Love it Bob! I'm picking up a 63 Savoy wagon next week. Thinking of setting it up as a stocker. 383 4 bbl. in J/SA. Will post some pics after I bring it home. Keep the updates coming on your wagon. Who's doing the work on your aluminum fenders and hood?

Does anyone know how to take the tailgate off of a 69 wagon?? I have read the FSM, looked at it many times and am just not sure how to get it off. I know I have to disconnect the internal torsion bar which seems to require the tailgate be put at a specific angle to take the tension off the bar. I know that I have to remove the strap on the left side and perhaps the hinge on the right side but I would deeply appreciate any other advice on this because its too heavy to get it half off and then get stuck.

After hearing prices others paid at specialty shops I decided to look for someone who does side work at home. After getting nowhere with guys who said they wouldn't do it, I finally talked to someone who gave me a name. These fenders and hood have led a hard life. I stripped them down to metal only to find how bad they were. I had the last guy look them over. It's going to cost me $1500 to get them looking good, but well worth it. He has had them since August, but doing a good job. Hope to get them back soon, put them on and then have him paint it. Also found a guy who does interior work on the side. That saved me a ton of money. Good luck with yours and send some pics. Wagons HO!

Surely someone has removed a tailgate off one of these...

Looks like some other digging could be done !!
tons. My buddy has about 20 forward look cars and over a hundred trucks. He has several 57 dodge wagons in the same shape if anyone is looking. Plus tons of 50's-70's trucks.
