Hello fellow Mopar Enthusiasts;

Dunno if you know about 33rd Annual Mopars with Big Daddy Garlits Show this year --- Nov 6-8th. Saturday is the big day.

Don Garlits, the world's number one ranked Drag Racer, has taken major strides to get the GARLITS back at his place. It has always been at Garlits' facility until 3 years ago, whereby it was moved to a Horse Farm down the street.

FMA (FLORIDA MOPAR ASSOCIATION) and Garlits originally moved the show because of lack of parking space.
Big has recently purchased extra property nearby for said parking.
He is no longer affiliated w the FMA.

Despite Covid, I will be going just to support Big.
It's either gonna be a blowout or a massive success...but then there's the Covid factor to ruin everything.

Def not going to the FMA Horse Show, hopefully diluted by the Garlits show by then.
FMA has stated they are not the bad guys, but it's simply not true. I have spoken with former FMA insiders and learned the truth.
Garlits & FMA tried to work things out, but they have a lease on the Horse Farm apparently.

At 88, you would think FMA would be more receptive to working with Garlits...he's not gonna be around forever. Let's cherish the time we have left with THE KING OF DRAG RACING. This is a guy who has proudly supported MOPAR his entire life. You would not be reading this if not for BIG DADDY DON GARLITS.
Big's determination in purchasing the parking area land was EPIC and probably not cheap, as land owner was holding out.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
We need to band together to support Don Garlits this coming weekend at THE 33rd ANNUAL MOPARS WITH BIG DADDY.
NO EXCEPTIONS, NO EXCUSES. JUST SHOW UP AND DO YOUR THING.

Did you mean November? Oct 6-8th has come and gone.

I won't be going to either, but if I were it would be Big Daddy's show. I grew up watching him set record after record. FMA needs to rethink their position. There is no reason that there cannot be 2 big Mopar shows in Florida each year but to purposely try to ruin his is crap IMO.

I’ll save my options until Don Garlits or an officer of the FMA comments on the situation.

I’m passing on both this year. It’s outrageous that these two shows are back- to-back weekends and, it’s more so unfair to the vendors that will potentially have far fewer customers browsing their wares between the two shows. Everyone loses in this scenario.

Maybe we can make THIS the transitional year.
Where there is ONE Show next year and the Covid is long gone.
But Mopar people are gonna hafta stand by Big to make it happen. A clear message needs to be sent.

Too much bullshit to make a judgement either way. Seems Mr Garlits would have the option to put his show off a month or two, while FMA is locked into a date.
Too bad, the vendors, who are already hurting, and the fans are taking the beating, not the egos involved.

Big Daddy's show has been these dates for years, FMA is the problem in trying to disrupt that show. To bad for them that they don't have there own property and had to lock in a date. This is the way I see it and my opinion.

I think you're dead on.
This whole "Cluster" was brought to my attention at last year's FMA by 2 former FMA people who quit to back Garlits. This was their opinion also.

How was the turnout today at the FMA show?

I guess it was a boycott. No answers or pictures.

Roy, and some others on the A body, site said it was a small turnout and parts were scarce (or priced at a premium for end-users). Turn out was apparently slightly bigger at Big Daddy’s than FMA.

The verdict is that neither shows are viable if they continue to compete back-to-back weekends.
