I would buy from Yearone or Evans to stay original but thats me. Hope someone can help you out. Good luck and post some pics of your car please.

Welcome aboard from NJ. I am watching this as I will eventually need a new harness myself. Best of luck with your project.

Year-one & M&H Same harnesses. Factory reproductions. Made for each yr/make/model. They are not cheap , but they are the easiest to install and are made just for your car. Buy it right and you will only buy it one time. Watch for Year-one discounts.

I'm new to this and never posted here. I have a 74 charger that I am starting and need an entirely new wiring harness for everything...

What are the differences between these wiring harnesses? Thoughts and recommendations?

Thanks for any and all help!

Those kits seem to be made by the same place, http://www.keepitcleanwiring.com
might even be the same kit?

If you are just staying stock wiring the reproduction harnesses (M&H) would be way easier to install. The cost is more up front for the reproduction, but the universal kits do not have bulkhead and harness connectors like a stock harness (saving a few hundred in cost), and they also are not wrapped with tape.

If doing a more custom install with a bunch of non-stock options like EFI and such, then the aftermarket wiring setups offer greater capacity (and more flexible, but usually larger in size) fuse blocks. I like using the PET braided sleeving (wire loom) with shrink wrap at the ends. It looks clean (although a bit modern), and is easier than wrapping the wires in tape.

Any kit should be using Cross Linked Polyethylene type wire (GXL, TXL, SXL), not the original PVC type GPT wire.

You will likely have to contact the manufacturer to verify the wire gauge used for each circuit.

Late to this post. That's what I did. I bought a stock reproduction wiring harness. I was not about to try the universal kits. Any other stuff I needed I went to Tommy White, partshound.net. the stock harness was plug, and play. Every ground was to bare metal, and I used dielectric grease on all connections because the humidity where I live.

Johnny Law is part of the Hoffman group, junk. Look up Hoffman group and you will find a list of companies that peddles Chinese junk parts.

M&H from Year One. Wait till they have a 30% off sale before buying.

Probably a stupid question, but if I'm buying the engine harness for my 74 Charger, part HU14, would it include the engine side AC and heater wiring? L38495. Thanks!

Not necessarily
That is a question you need to call and ask customer service
with my 66 Charger the lead that went to the heater fan was not included

I've bought M&H and Evans. Both fine products. This time, however, I'm redoing it all with the American Autowire harness. Then again, I don't care at all about originality.

Thanks. I'll check with M&H. I'm assuming these are separate harnesses. I can't find any information as to what is all included in the engine harness. Anyone know what the speed control servo wiring would fall under? I guess that's another question for them.

I don't think so, special because on 74 the A/C harness doesn't run to bulkhead, but with a grommet throught the firewall.

But still if was running to bulkhead ( like 71/73 ) is an option, so it won't be included on harness.

On 72/73 the A/C harness is splitted between engine plug for the clucth and transmission harness plug for the blower.

ON 71, both wires run to Transmission harness plug

Thanks for the info. I'm for sure getting the engine side AC and Heater Harness, undecided about the dash side. I'm putting after market air back into a factory AC car that had all the AC removed by the previous owner. I have no idea what was left of wiring so this way I think it will eliminate any potential surprises.

Went with year one on my harness. Asked for the console wiring and did not get it in the loom. Had to brake into the dome light wiring to feed those lights. Also asked for the defrost wiring and did not get that in the loom. So other than that every thing was spot on. Just my two cent's.

Those are accesories! You could get a steering column car and no A/C or defrost, so why those ( defrost or console ) harnesses would be attached/included on the underdash Harness? Provisions to conect those accesories are there just like factory, but if the car didn't have those, why would be there the harnesses? I bet you search on a Mopar parts catalog they got a separated PN too

Got ya on that info. But the car dose have those now. But did opt out on the defrost for now. Still ran a wire to the trunk for latter on. I did explain when ordering the wiring harness under dash I needed those connection's. But that is ok worked it out my self. Thanks again. Blue
