I just pulled a 741, 3.23, open out of our 68’ Coronet. The new set up is inbound from Dr diff so when I am sure that everything is good this one is up. 250,000 miles on it. Fits perfect in a 5 gallon bucket lined in a contractor bag. If it fits it ships,

But it's a 489 case.

Hi Ron
I’m not an expert on these. That would require me to change to tapered axles, correct?

Tapered axles only refer to the outer end of the axles, the inner end is the same. This chuck would work fine for you. I have a 741 in Connecticut too if you want it, 3.23 open. $50 just pick it up.

No a 489 case just uses a taper'd pinion and a crush seal, no difference with axle.

I’ve got a 2.94 741 case in ct was asking 350 for the whole axle assy with fresh brakes.
