Lost a volt meter that way. And Dad tied a suitcase to the luggage rack of the '62 Chrysler New Yorker station wagon using the handle. The handle became separated from the suitcase and we had clothes scattered all over the freeway while it bounced around.

there's a commercial on TV of late
I can't remember what for Geico/Progressive Ins. I think
showing all kinds of stuff left on roofs people driving off

I remember my mom panicking about losing her purse
she flipped a bitch really quick in, middle of Willow pass rd. in Concord Ca.
extremely busy road, to go back to JC Pennys IIRC
& her purse on the roof, where she had left it
ejected all of its contents all over the road

she didn't think it was as funny as I did

I left my Grade 12 diploma on the roof while taking my suit jacket off, jumped in the Bee and floored it straight for the nearest party. Have never looked back !!!

My partner in San Diego left his sunglasses on the rear bumper of our Dunbar armored truck. When I drive back to our office from the bank, they were still on the rear bumper. And keep in mind, an armored truck has basically no spring in the rear end when it is empty, flies into the air over every bump in the road.

Dad left his slippers on the rear bumper of his '96 Dodge Dakota. They made it 5 miles from the house and we found them at the entrance ramp to the 101 freeway.

That's how Red Green keeps people from tailgating! Just loosely fasten a lunchbox or something to the roof. LOL!

We were driving down 95 and caught up to a van that had it's back doors open. All of a sudden a large black briefcase fell out and the van never stopped. Well we had to stop or run over it so we grabbed it and took off after the van. I had to come up beside him to flag him down. He pulled over and I showed him the briefcase. He was shocked! I said "Don't you realize your back doors are open?" He said no. In the briefcase was electronic equipment used for testing of somekind, I'm thinking communication and he told me it was worth around 5k and he would have lost his job if it came up missing. He tried to pay me but I declined and left. There was a company name on the van but I don't remember anymore what it was. :realcrazy:

That electronic equipment was worth about 5k before it hit the pavement at highway speed.

Two day old laptop. Thats when Staples had the no fault extended warranty, something I normally don't buy. Sure happy I did, they replaced it 3 times

When I was a patrol trainee with the Sheriff's Department my training officer placed his notebook with all my trainee paperwork and copies of reports I had written on the roof of our patrol car when we left the station. As soon as we entered the main intersection across from the station the notebook fell off the roof and the notebook hit the ground. The paperwork flew out of the notebook, it looked like confetti flying around at a New Years Eve party. Guess who had to jump out of the patrol car and run around gathering up the paperwork scattered around the busy intersection, not my training officer....just me the lowly trainee. Fun to remember now almost 40 years later, not so much fun at the time.

After driving from nebraska to Universal studios in Orlando, with the kids on our "vacation from hell" the kids wanted me to put there luggage in the storage bag on the roof of the rental van. I started to load their bags and got half of them up there...but the rest were packed so heavy...I could hardly lift them...
so I through the heavy ones in the back. I stopped all 6 lanes in Orlando as I watched every peice of the light luggage fly off the roof in the rear view mirror...I forgot to zip travel bag on the roof back up.

Pulled up next to a young girl once noticed a wallet on roof tried getting her attention nothing was on her phone didn't even see me she took off away it went I stopped and got it . I followed her awhile trying to catch up to her she drove like she stole the car!
Finally made it to her destination as I was trying to make u turn to get to her she was looking everywhere in her car throwing stuff around . I pulled up and said I bet your looking for your wallet ! She looked confused and grabbed her pepper spray!
I said you left it on your roof and it fell off in front of me !
She started to cry ! She had $1500 in it to pay her landlord rent witch is where we ended up at! Said she was going to get evicted if she was late again! That's way she was rushing had to pay by whatever
o-clock
So she was very thrilled . I told her to just take her time if her land lord was giving her a time to pay by he obviously is a dick ended up she asked for my number said she wanted to buy me dinner. In the end she now rents from my brother in-law for $1000 for same size house she is very happy we ran into each other. Never did get that dinner!
