Anyone play an instrument?

Played violin as a child...the memories are there forever. I hope to start learning the guitar soon...when I get my garage a bit more tidy of different stuff. Bought myself a Brian May signature series replica 'Red Special' and a VOX valve amp....gonna be some sweet sounds one day.

Apparently I have had this for 15 years now, and only played with it a few times.....better get that garage tidy soon I guess.

I still have my bugle from the Boy Scouts.
Pick it up once in a while.
Nothing sounds as good as a well designed tube amplifier.

That’s a great choice of amp and guitar. It’s amazing that Brian May built the original guitar from scratch with his dad when he was a teen. It was played on some of rocks most famous songs. Not bad, for a guy who never built a guitar before!

Taught myself to play guitar in Grade 7 and played trumpet from Grade 6 through 12 in the School bands. Wife plays Clarinet, not to be confused with the older girlfriend that I met in band camp that played the flute.... :luvplace:

I believe so. Guild took that and made a sig series out of it.which is a fine guitar. Now the market is flooded with asian copies.

Oh well,....Paradiddle in the middle!
I never learned that when I took drum lessons, or if I did, I've forgotten about it? I've always wanted to play banjo, took lessons when I was 18-19, I could never get the hang of it!

I never had much luck at band camp, ended up playing a lot of solos...

The paradiddle is one of the 40 drum rudiments. that develop coordination, separation, and speed.

I can play a few cord sets on the guitar. I play a mean air guitar and air drums. Oh, I wowed the crowd one night at a bar by playing the air xylophone! My old girlfriend played a mean skin flute and the one tone bone-a-phone.:rofl:

Tried but just can't seem to pick it up to the point where it is fun. I'd say it is one of my disappointments in life because I am an audiophile, but I just reason that I'm good at other stuff.
My dad wanted me to play baseball. He was a big Ted Williams & Mickey Mantel fan. Problem was I sucked at baseball. I couldn’t hit, couldn’t catch, couldn’t throw. For years I felt I let him down, but then one day he told me he was proud of me & that I turned out to be a good boy. WHEW ! I was free to chart my course & make my own way without regret. And I no longer regreted that I sucked in baseball.

If you play and want to know more about music check out Rick Beato on YouTube. Smart guy for sure. I enjoy his instruction and he leaves me in the dust in the first minute or two. He's pretty popular with 1.93 million followers. (million) https://www.youtube.com/user/pegzch

I played alto and tenor sax in middle school (6-8 grades). I gave it up in HS.

Now all I can play is a mean stereo.

14 guitars and amps later...

only fitting to post this one I built 2 years ago. One of my best playing guitars I’ve ever had.. I had a luthier friend to the final set up and he did a great job

Got back into the drums about 5 years ago. I answered a CL ad for a drummer to play "old county" music. I'm more into rock and jazz but I enjoyed playing those classics. Since moving down to SC I have been playing in a band and we just finished a CD of original music. This is my practice studio.

Drums through H.S, joined a local band after that and did what they used to call activity nights and battle of the bands back in the same H.S
Still have my Ludwigs, but now trying to learn guitar, I should take lessons though since I’m not getting very far with internet lessons

What kind of Pick ups? Did you clone Eddies design?

I try. Had piano lessons when I was in grade school for about 2 years. I still can't play the piano.
Played Saxophone in middle school band. Wasn't very good at that either.
Took Guitar lessons about 5-years ago. Still working on learning guitar.
Bought a really cool (and pricy, about $2K) Gibson SG Deluxe 2013 in cobalt blue.

It looks good with the B5 Blue Coronet :)
Plays and sounds good too

this is my piano. It’s just a console I bought from a local tuner/mover. Plays great. One day I hope to have the room and the skill to own a grand.

I played bass in a few metal and new wave bands in the seventies, but I am not talented, and I was lazy. More into the lifestyle instead of working at my craft. I have a few recordings I dig out every now and then when I feel nostalgic.
My talent was in sound. I have a good ear and understanding of how sound works and could make things sound as good as possible in a given room. Things like phasing and harmonics, to bring out or lose certain tones, and to make sound appear from different places. One common example is the King Diamond song “The Candle”, where part of the organ intro appears to pass under your feet. Or the Kraftwerk song “Antenna” where various sounds pop out from different parts of the room. Drives my cats crazy as they look trying to see what’s there. Anyway...
Life gets in the way, and I had to make the choice between overdosing in a hotel somewhere or getting my **** together and living a normal, middle class life. Middle class won. But I still had this itch to express myself.
I now build from scratch tube guitar amps. I also repair and restore tube amps. I only build a few because each one is a labor of love, only shared with people who appreciate them. Sound and quality wise I put them up against any amp, anywhere on the planet, as far as tone and sound go. I proud of the fact that they look factory built, not like something out of some guys basement. And by built I mean totally built; I lay out the chassis, bend the metal, drill and punch the holes, paint and apply lettering and logo, cut wood on my saw to build the cabinets and finish them. Takes about a week of unhurried work to make one from clean sheet of paper to plugging in.
The photos are two random pix, there’s been others but top one is the first one I built, the “head” unit is my current one.View attachment 1025342View attachment 1025343
That’s awesome. Built amps for a while and moved along. Built a couple guitars too. Here’s one of each. Very satisfying. I tend to move through different hobbies as I get bored of one I go to the next.
