Mini tub tire size and back spacing

I'm thinking about doing this to mine. What have you guys done for exhaust? Pictures appreciated. I don't want side exit exhaust.

I was looking for a fellow to send my tire sizes that I’m running on my 63 Polara, well one rabbit hole, and another...I see your Coronet.... LOVE ‘65 C 500’s....I almost bought a drop top last year, just don’t see any Coronet 500’s anymore....very nice man!

My 65 Coronet mini tubbed ladder bars coilovers Dana 60. I use 315x60x15 MT DR with 10 inch wheels with 5.5 BS.

Hey fellas, I am build a 64 fury and purchased the uscartool mini tub and spring relocation kit.. what size if tires are you squeezing under them and what nack spacing are you running.. stock width rear end or narrowed ? Trying to get an idea of what to start hunting for
You really won't know how much tire you can use, till you get the mini tubs in, and the springs moved. And you wont know anything about the wheels that will fit, till you decide on a narrowed rearend or stock, and which brakes you are going to use (sometimes discs move the mounting flange for the wheels outward, compared to drums).
Alternatively, after the tub and spring relocation, you could pick out the tire/wheel combo you WANT to run, and narrow a rearend to fit.

See my post above. 3" TTI to the bumper.
That's what my original plan was to do, run all TTI , headers to tail pipe. When I was looking up part numbers TTI's foot notes (57) says won't fit relocated springs. I did see that you mentioned you had to slightly modify the stock tank, is this what they were talking about or were there other issues with the install?. To be clear you have the springs located directly under the frame rails and not an off set shackle correct?. Thanks

If you can do the minitub and spring relocation, a little modification to tail pipes and gas tank shouldnt be too much trouble. Or, you could always throw a fuel cell in the trunk like i did.

I'm just glad to hear someone say it can be done with some minor trimming ( I hope that's what he's saying). I didn't want to buy pre bent pipes that i couldn't use at all.

I looked at mine, and with 3 inch pipes, it doesn't seem to have enough room. Did you modify the tank, and if so, what did you do?
I don't have my stock tank installed at the moment, does it look to you like 3" round to 3" oval would work?, not that i really want to do that ( kills the idea of buying off the self from TTI ) but it may be a problem solver. I'll have to find a cross section measurement of 3" oval to see how wide it is. EDIT ,looks like 2.2" x 3.45" according to Summit.

The springs on my 65 are relocated into the frame rails. Narrowed diff and mini tubs too. Stock gas tank.
I used the 3" x-pipe kit from TTI with offset inlet and centre outlet mufflers. The TTI footnote 57 indicates that exhaust will not fit with relocated springs. Basically, that means it will not bolt in directly but you can make it will fit.
The instructions says to start installing at the back and move forward, but because of the springs I started at the front and moved back. I had to shorten the x-pipe section by about 4"; not certain why but had to for proper fitment.
Once the x-pipe and mufflers are firmly in place, start fitting the tail pipes. Spacing over the diff and between the shocks (narrowed diff) is tight so adjust the pipes for clearance. The flange on each side of the gas tank will interfere in some spots, so bend the flange up for clearance. Springs and rear hangers will interfere also. I spaced the rear tailpipe mount using a long bolt and adding washers until there was no contact through the full motion of the rear suspension.
Lots of trial and error, in and out, until everything fit. It is snug, but I have no contact or rattles.

Thank you very much for the detailed install, i'm going to give the TTi over the rear exhaust a try. If it's not too much trouble could you post a picture of the x pipe area?. I'm going to be running a Gear Venders unit and TTI says that will be a problem for their x and h pipes, hoping i can modify to make fit. They don't seem to have any install pictures on there website.

I am trying to recall the size of the Gear Venders unit in my buddy's GTX. I don't think it will work with an x-pipe. Probably need to custom fit an h-pipe after the unit is installed.
Here are some pics of my x-pipe and a 727.

Wow, clean looking build, looks great. I figured i would have to make something up just wasn't sure. Thank you for the pics ,that helps a lot. I agree, an h-pipe after the G.V.'s unit would probably be the most logical way to go, fabricating the h-pipe mid section shouldn't be that bad if I can tie that into TTI's over the rear section. BTW, did you make the drive shaft loop or do you know where i can get one of those ?, looks to be another problem solver and way nicer than the one that i got with my car as a roller. Who's muffler/ resonator did you use?.

Chad, my 65 is mini tubbed and springs moved in. 315/60-15 on 10" wheels. Don't recall backspace; maybe 4.5". Custom narrowed width dana. 3" exhaust.

I am building a 64 Polara and and I'm getting ready to order a customer Dana 60 housing. I really like the results of your build and would appreciate any input you have on the relocate kit and housing dimensions. Im trying to sort out the spring perch width and the housing width before I order

Not a B. Mine is an E body with mini tubs and springs relocated 3" inboard. I run 315/60/15 Drag Radials or 29.5x10.5w's on 15"X12" w/5-1/2 b.s.

Barsby, the springs were already relocated when I got the car as a roller, the frame rails set the location for the front and rear hangers. Mancini is one source for a spring relocation kit. For the diff, I plumb bobbed everything (ie string lines) to the garage floor, including fender lips, springs, driveline centreline and developed the measurements from there. With the relocated springs installed you can measure for the perches. I worked with Cass at Dr Diff to get the Dana custom built.

I did the exact same thing for my car. Except I started with the wheels and made the car fit them.

Great thanks for the response. I was working with Cass already but I hesitated on ordering my Dana just long enough that I decided to do the relocate. lol I guess waiting was expensive. But better now than later.

Lol, my buddy decided to relocate springs and mini tub his 64 after the car was already painted. Everything turned out great.
