Don't think I've ever painted aluminum trim, any suggestions, input, ideas? I need to paint this body color, sand, epoxy and paint was my original thought?

yup...... sand and epoxy prime......I did it on my buddy' old Ford truck (big, fat, aluminum trim) over 20 years ago.....still looks good

Sand very lightly, the anodized coating is a lot better for promoting paint adhesion than bare aluminum itself, so you don't want to sand through.

On my anodize removed trim I used a self etching primer specified for aluminum and painted over that. I'll let you know in 20 years if that worked!

That's good info too know ! I would've thought to sand the anodizing off !

If you want to strip the anodizing layer off there are commercial strippers available and Easy Off oven cleaner will also work. Easier than sanding.
