They just DOUBLED the fees at ours...

$40 for a pickup truck ???
It was $20 2 weeks ago. Every fee doubled in the recent change.

Minimum Load: $20 up to 700 pounds

Gate Rate: $55 per ton

NO COMMERCIAL LOADS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER 4:00PM OR ON SATURDAYS

Seems like the last time we took a 16 foot trailer full of yard waste, a few chunks of wood and a few bags of trash it was like 12 bucks If I remember correct. But I guess the fees posted above are the new norm.

Fees?!?!?!
Haaaa it's free for me if I'm a resident in the same city .I've dumped tons a 20 ft trailer made dump runs every week for 3-4 months during reno and clean out if my rental property

No charges here at our "convenience centers", with a few caveats:
a. we're allowed to dispose of (8) passenger/light truck tires per year free; beyond that it's
a buck a tire charge
b. no commercial, business or other non-residential refuse allowed
c. they get testy if you bring more than a few truck beds full all at once

Man....
Tire disposal here is 4 are FREE if you pay to dispose of something else BUT tires # 5 through 8 are TEN dollars each to dump! They were $1.50, then 2.75 and with this recent price hike, $10. What an *** rape.

This is the kind of stuff that leads to the illegal dumps on lightly traveled roads, and on creek banks, etc. There was an old mattress and box spring "donated" to the roadside around the bend from my house last month.....

I have three dumps sites available, all the fees differ! one charges $10 cubic yd. because they don't have a scale! the other 2 charge by weight which is $40ton. tires free off rims!steel free, anything with freon is $30, matresses $25. shingles $70ton.
one site has hazardous waste once a month and the city dump has it every day 20ltr. max. on used oil. I usually roll in with 80-100ltrs. and they always have a comment about too much! I just tell them it 40kms to get here and they always take it but not without some advice!
the mattress deal is new,use to be by weight! My friend put a mattress at curbside for township large item pick up done 2 times a year for free [5 items]. the next morning there were 3 in the ditch alongside his. because of severe weather the township never picked up and they were there all winter. He just put out a water heater for pick up this fall, we have a bet going how many will be there in spring!
I had a truckload of shrink wrap from boats to dispose of and was travelling near the no scale dump, they wanted $70. I left and went to the scaled dump and it was $8

We recycle everything that's recyclable and burn the rest, they take pretty much everything but paper and cardboard at our local recycling drop off. Tires are the expensive item around here to get rid of, few do it legally because of the cost.

Such things strike me the same way as car dealers adding charges on top of the sticker price.
AKA "dealer added value" or doc fees.
Ticks me off....

I guess it gets down to just what the taxes everyone pays locally should pay for - and who dictates that?

You have to pay to take stuff to the dump?? Really! Why? If its like here they actually make money out of a certain % percentage that we take (green waste, wood , card, paper, metal etc) so no one is going to pay to take it there....When certain places tried to charge a few years back rubbish was just dumped at the side of the road for the council to clear up....great idea that was!!!

it costs me 3 times as much to get rid of recycled items at the resort. 5yd. bins of trash cost $60. 5yd. bin of recycle cost $170.
I think it will all become trash soon.

We don't have a dump in our county but, once a year the township has a clean up day where anything except nuclear waste is accepted. We recycle all we can, compost food scraps (meat and bones, after wife makes broth are dumped out back for the critters) and burn what little is left. I have refuse service (by the bag) and put a bag or two out for pick up maybe every 2-3 months.

Collection Fees
  • $0.08 per pound or $160 per ton.
  • Metal and cardboard can be dropped off for free.
  • Tires:
    • Regular Car and Light Truck Tires are $3 each off rim and $5 each on rim.
    • Large Truck Tires are $8 each off rim and $20 each on rim.
    • Farm/Tractor Tires are $15 each off rim and $35 each on rim.

Last time I went (about 5 years ago) it was $10 a pickup load or smaller for residents.

I took paint and chemicals about a year ago and up to 5 gallons were free for residents, but any container not full was counted as full.
(don't take a 1/4 full 5 gal bucket, put it in two 1 gal cans so you can take more, or fill the 5 gal with other stuff)

...but my business has a dumpster which is $90 a month (and a write-off) so I just use that for everything except large quantity paint and chemicals.

We have a scrap metal business a stones throw away from the dump convenience drop. Any metal that I'm getting rid of, I take there and get paid a few bucks.

No charge at ours. Just a certain amount of tires your allowed to dispose of in a calendar year.

I have several dumpsters for larger stuff and never go to the dump. Here we pay $3 per tire when buying new, even if don't get them M&B'd there.

I live in Redneck land, people just keep the stuff all over their property. I stuff everything that will fit into the garbage cans for collection, the rest goes to my one of my terminals and into the dumpster.
