Removal of Headlight and wiper switches?

Going to pick up a new switch here in a couple three hours! Mines to nasty to take pics, it's a grossly dirty unit!

My guess is that the small amount of grease or lube on the end of the shaft when inserted from new, has gone hard or solidified just enough to create the resistance you encountered while attempting removal. Heat and time on the shaft from the current flow through the switch after 50 years will have an effect.

Good to hear that you can get a replacement so fast.

I've never had a switch be that problematic before, something surely wasn't right? Local O'Reilly's has it, AutoZone shows 2 part numbers but both look the same, go figure? I also got a complete one I'm watchin on E-bag.
