Well, they are iron, so cracks at the exhaust seats are very common, and prolly even more so on a head thats been raced. Also, I'd think at .900 thats a huge cut, right?? You verified they are 518's right, no heat crossover??

What all are you getting, rocker gear too??

I believe if you measure the thickness of the outside bolting flange just under the exhaust ports,
they should measure approximately 1.020 if untouched. If they measure 0.900, then it sounds like
about 0.100 or so got taken off.

I would not buy heads that had been milled more than .100 . Finding an intake to work with max heads is hard enough, i would not want the headache of trying to get an intake to work with heads milled that much.

Are they the mopar performance 518M that came out around the year 2000?
Some of those came with 2.14 intake valves, I bought a pair way back when.

I hope you mean .090 not .900 :poke:
hi
well i have to assume that he measured from top of the bottom head bolt to surface-he said that was.900--i think uncut that they were around .970 or 75 i cant remember..what do you think--thanks jack

hi
i not sure what uncut heads measure--what little i know is from top of the bottom head bolt flange is to surface-is .970 or 75.so the cut is around .075 that seems like alot-i get the rocker arms and valves come s with the heads.
thanks jack

hi
thanks for reply--that is a lot to have been taken off-i would be afraid the intake wouldnt line up--plus the piston would have to be cut as well--what do you think thanks jack

If that much has been cut, good chance is that intake side of head has been cut too. Look at that area closely. Yes if trying to use cross ram it does not take much for the intake bolts to be off kilter, and once Xram is put on, you wont be able to get bolts to thread in properly. Also check exhaust seats, they are notoriously sunk in the head. Putting in exhaust seats are tricky due to water jacket location, and there just isnt much material in that area to begin with.
Id be going over with a fine tooth comb before buying

there are some pictures[/Q

I think I have some pix of mine too, if you need to see something specific

fwiw, I had my 518M's cut .100 to bump up compression. They cut the intake side also so any intake would fit, but you needed to cut some from the china rail area of the intakes to get them to set down far enough. if that make sense. I ran a stock crossram with them

thanks for your time-i i think that i will just pass on them-dont want to have to go though the trouble with the mods.

thanks again for the information
thanks jack
