1974 Roadrunner K Member small block

weight distribution?

You'll have to ask Chrysler why they used 2 k members in later years
Not really it was done so the engine sits in correctly and not tilted sideways... Many have tried and failed and either cut the engine mounts off the K-member and welded BB ones on or swapped out the K-member for the correct BB one...

My 400's weren't tilted and I didn't fail and the 75 Coronet is still tearin up the streets of Phoenix. I never got out the welder and it was a great success

Ok you CLEARLY know more than the factory did....those idiots... I guess my big block was different than yours and my SB K-member was different too like thousands of others who tried this and know it doesn't work... Glad you have a one of none still tearing up the streets, I bet it was probably a 400 Hemi too... I am done on the topic many know exactly what I am talking about and know I am right...

Nope 62-65 different.

66-72 same.

73 and up different.

Wrong. 62-5 is the same K-member SB to BB except for Hemi..

Just a picture showing how the engine is tilted sideways if putting a BB in with a small block k-member... View the pics EVEN a MORON can see how it would be sitting in there sideways and by the time you get back to the trans it's up against the tunnel using factory parts...

Yer a fu'n idiot BP. You ever done the swap
First off you really don't deserve a response BUT... Yes I tried putting a BB in my SB 74 RR decades ago it would not fit correctly so I cut the BB mounts off a rusty BB one and welded them on. I did not want to deal with changing all the suspension over and that was faster at the time. Then my K-member rusted out in the corners like the OP so I found a mint BB k-member and installed that when I redid the whole car... Look at the picture, the picture tells a thousand words on how crooked the engine would be using factory parts but it's typical to lash out against someone for giving the correct information

I'm another one that couldn't get a bb to fit a sb K-frame (in a '73 Charger I had in HS).

With how 'great' quality control was back when these cars were new, I often wonder if a lot of these cars left the factory with the 'wrong' K-frame? Remember, these weren't fawned over when being built, they were just someone's 9-5 job and slapped together just well enough to get them out the door.

(there's a few scary things regarding 'build quality' on my wagon....)
