Ya, I know funny well this Belvedere is slowly coming along. I painted the engine compartment and the bottom of the hood over the past two weeks. Right now I'm cleaning and painting the front suspension parts and underhood brackets and related assemblies. As always well-advanced planning never works particularly getting a look at how and what goes together. The power steering pump brackets are one of on the 440 motorhome engine come to find out Furys and Chryslers have the same pump. A member has a Fury he's parting out so I should have a pump in the mail in a few days. The torque converter is one of also the cast cranks are balanced by it and the damper on the front of the engine still looking for one of those. I found one company online that did carry them but they are out of stock and not replacing them. The heater blower motor was bad so I pulled the heater out today the replacement motor is metric so a trip to the hardware store to get a couple of nuts will reinstall tomorrow. I'm kicking my *** for not getting on this project sooner it's been in pieces since last April.

Keep chipping away, mines done and I'm still tinkering! Lol 440'

Well Rob, how about a torque converter? It's unique in that it has a wedge-shaped weight (some with two rectangular weights) welded to the front along with the harmonic balancer, that balances this forged crankshaft. Let me know when you have the time.

I wish I could but my computer refuses the download off my camera.
Yeah, this site limits the size of pics it will accept - and I have to crank down on the resolution of
pics off my phone in order to use them here.

Tell ya what, I've done this for other members before -
if you like, you can text or email me the pics directly off your phone and I'll be happy to get them
sized to work on the site.
Just send me a Private Message and we'll do it. :)

Many thanks for the offer, I have never had trouble with my camera to computer down load. I'll let you know later.

When I was quite young and expressed my wishes to do a complete restoration I remember the words of an older hot rodder, he said, "You can take a car apart in a day and NEVER get it back together UNLESS you do something to it every day. Clean something , paint something, collect new parts, repair a part. Doing something every day will keep up your focus moving forward. I found his words of advice very profitable for me. Once it rests comfortably in the back of your mind chances grow it will become someone else s basket project......

Sage wisdom right there.
That's exactly the way I did mine - of course, it was also necessitated by life events and budget, but by chopping the
project up into bite-sized "mini-projects", you can get that instant gratification that keeps you motivated.
By accomplishing these small steps one at a time as you can, you feel you're moving forward.

Then that day arrives when it dawns on you that you see light at the end of the tunnel, you turn the key -
and it's freaking GLORIOUS when she springs to life and you can take a test drive.

Update the progress: Painted the engine bay and the underside of the hood. Painting brackets frontend parts and K-member. K-member installed. The engine I have been struggling trying to find a shop to install the cam bearings. With none local, I found one that advertised Mopar experienced two hours away. Surprised they finished it over a weekend. So right now the block is in the engine stand, the crankshaft is in but that presented a new problem. I'll talk about that another time. I took the past two days off back at it tomorrow.

PS: My photo file isn't working so no pics now.

Since I'm held up on suspension parts I started prepping the bottom of the car for paint yesterday. That pile of receipts just keeps getting higher. Today we had other business to take care of today back at it tomorrow.

For Friday I got the prep work done and painted with Eastwood's rust encapsulator (does the stuff even work?) on the driver's side. I painted the instrument cluster surround with satin black am I going to try painting the letters above the wiper and headlights? Depends on how brave I get. Will be out there Sunday.

Painted the underside from the trans tunnel to the rear shock mount. I couldn't clean it let alone paint it because the socks and gas tank were in the way besides I ran out of that rust encapsulator. Next winter I'll pull the tank and rear shocks. The gas tank sending unit was new but she runs out of gas on the last one-eighth of the dash gauge more than likely the float arm needs to be bent a little bit.

When I rebuilt the front end a couple of years ago I bought these "nice-looking" upper control arms off eBay if I recall they were under a hundred bucks and looked like originals. However, the right ball joint came out of the mounting hole. I even tried to take a drift and shrink the hole next I tried to wedge the ball joint in with shim stock but no success. This same arm can be seen on some of these popular retailers for double what I paid. It just may be a bad part but with a budget, I couldn't afford the real fancy ones so I found some tubular steel ones for a hundred bucks for the pair. They look good but so did the first set. And yes I could have bought the good ones for six hundred bucks for the two but it could put me back three months more to get the car on the road.

I did take the wiper linkage out to clean and lubricate the motor too but when I cleaned it the color came off the armature case so I painted the motor satin black but left the cover over the gearbox natural then sprayed clear over the assembly. It looks just fine to me besides the air cleaner cover most of it. It's a rebuild people.

I found torque converter weights for sixty-five bucks need to be welded on comes with a templet. I think Mancini Racing has the kit.

Today I got the left frame stiffener in tomorrow the right side. That was the only thing that went right.

I bought tubular upper control arms from Parts Geek but the bushings in the hole were too big for the adjusting bolts. Am I going to have to buy the same one that went bad? Stay tuned.

Got the one wiper pivot freed up. Drilled two holes on the aluminum pivot body and shot some WD4 in and it now turns effortless. I did seal the new holes up with silicone before installing them. Does anyone know anything about these intermittent wiper motors? I took the cover off the gearbox but the motor didn't work as it did before I fixed it. Just a loud clicking noise coming from that location as I hot wired the motor. This cover has a mechanism on it that parks with wipers. It's not damaged just need to find out how it needs to be assembled.

Check out the 440 source website. They have a B&M flexplate that is already counterweighted for a forged crank 440 and it will allow any neutral balanced torque converter to be used with a cast crank 400 or 440. They list it for $49.95. No welding required.

It's on order 49.95 plus no shipping many thanks.

Being not educated on this engine I could have saved a boatload of money by putting in a forged crankshaft. I had bought a power steering pump specifically for this crank over a hundred invested in it when I already picked one for the other crank, resealed it, and painted it. Will list it for sale on the forum later.

Again many thanks
