I came across a publication today, that I picked up back in 1997 at Trenton Engine, while doing some instructing as a contractor. The newsletter is called MOTOR Pulse. I have no idea if the article is interesting to most of you, but it was to me, because I had no clue as to how many engines Trenton (MI) turned out. I've attached the entire page, then I cropped just the milestone engine. I hope the quality is good enough to see details of engine, as to what was attached when they painted it. Another detail to notice is where the negative battery cable is attached, which sometimes, generates great debate. The cable is clearly attached UNDER the throttle bracket.

I just thought this is a cool piece of MOPAR history. If this has been posted previously, please ignore me! Also, I'll be posting on a couple other forums, so you might run into this again.

That’s a 1968 440 magnum not painted yet. Very cool! Thanks. Post more if you want to. Love to see it.

Yes on a different mopar site they researched and agreed the batt cable goes under the throttle bracket. I don’t want to mention the site name caus people start bashing it.

I was aware of the "other site's" findings. :)Yep, no bashing, just info if somebody is interested. :D

Very good verification for a common show car error regarding negative cable. Also interesting is the "735" on the tag which also was hand written on my original passenger side valve cover denoting 440 mag with automatic.

That's cool, about the 735 denotation. My picture is much clearer - the engine in the background is tagged "761".

Thanks for the definitive proof!

The hours that I've spent arguing that this assembly is correct and that there is NOT a star washer under the bolt head! (looks like I have the cable on the wrong side of the bracket "peg" leg though.)

Thank you for posting this. Good stuff. Would you mind doing a high resolution scan and posting it? There are a lot of details within the picture worth getting a good look at.

Thank you again.

I suspect you'll be out in the shop correcting this first thing this morning - you know, just like me.

(Hell man, I dunno - I just found an unused tapped hole on the dang engine and nailed the sucker there...)

Also interesting is the evidence that the exhaust manifolds, plugs, pcv valve & grommet, wire looms, and fuel pump were all installed and painted at the same time.

So this is before paint?
The plugs are painted, or do they put something over them?

I've seen the PCV/breather locations debated on here before. Good to see I don't have to at least move those
on mine.
