View attachment 1032634 A old time yard in California were the old timer that ran it passed away.
Never really wanted to sell anything.
Same old story of!
Relatives not interested in keeping it open.
Greedy real estate agent says get rid of cars and I will make you rich.
Crusher comes in. Only about 5 minutes per car.
About 100 58-66 thunderbirds
100 early 50s-70s caddys.
200 B.OP.s/Lincolns

It's a shame! But to be honest, this is not the way to properly store a Thunderbird anyway.

"It's just business for automakers", is a true statement. Sad to watch, thanks for sharing!

Speaking of Mopars used for training.......back in '93-'94 I was attending UTI here in Houston. Pushed in the back of one of the shops, was one of these......

BUT......it had been built for export? Rear bumper had the wider license plate indent for a European plate, the speedometer was in kilometers, and the rims, while they looked like the ones in the picture, they were a good inch or two wider. It also looked like it was lowered. Was it an export spec model? Some kind of one-off prototype? There was no VIN on the dash either. It looked like it had never had a VIN plate installed.
In the time I was there, the car had been moved a couple of times, but we were never allowed to work on it and it was always locked up.
No doubt it met the same fate as the Vipers, but I had always wondered what the back story was on this car.

I realize that there has to be prototype vehicles, crash test cars, etc. but to me that was a shame and disgrace.

That’s one way to get the snow off.

Should have parted them out or somehow utilized some pieces.

That California yard is a darn shame, look how complete the cars are in those photos.

As a Viper owner I could not watch the videos... At least when it came to some of the Hellcats they let Roadkill and GMG gut them and use the drive trains in other things. I remember something about a very early Viper that was donated to a school that Leno tried to save it but as I recall he lost and that car went to the crusher as well.

This is the last of the 3 I had the privilege to own.

96, first year of the coupe. 63XX original miles. I bought new and it was delivered Dec. 1996.
I ordered my first one in 92 when production started. Orders were such that when it finally arrived it was a 1994 R/T 10 roadster, black with tan leather interior. Then in 1996 I bought a totaled 1996 roadster which I completely restored into a clone Shelby edition R/T 10. White with blue stripes, just the opposite of my coupe. I sold it to a person in Renton, Washington who after 5-6 years totaled it at a Viper track event.

My old 97 GTS that I bought new...

Yuk makes me sick, even all the pics with the tbirds, caddies etc. someone be used to love those old cars. It’s really a shame how throw away this country is.

While that is very sad to watch, we can understand there is prolly a tax write-off to the donor in there somewhere. We have seen rare test mules crushed for the same reasons. In my state I am watching high dollar four wheelers, atvs, and some real nice home built vehicles , getting crushed every week. Seems those caught street racing are quickly destroyed....but very sad to watch, no matter the reasons.....

What year are the assembly plant pictures? Typo maybe? No coupe's in 92 and the engine photo is the last generation engine as noted by the intake. I watched my 96 go down the assembly line but declined the plant pickup offered as you had to pay delivery either way.

Oops, I meant 2002. The last of the Gen II's were rolling off the line & they were tooling up for the new Gen III Stratomaro (Stratus/Camaro) body style.

Years ago a friend worked sales at a Honda m/c shop. They always donated a bike to the local tech school.
One day the owner told the service manager to prep a new Honda CBX for them
For those that don't know the CBX is an inline 6 that was quite fast for the day. They are now worth a bunch.
The mgr lit a smoke, fired up the bike, pinned the throttle and held it until the engine self ventilated.
"It's ready!".
