Morning to All,

More of a lurker then a poster but love the forum. In the process of giving some much needed love to a 68 Charger and have a line on some mint rear rails from 69 Roadrunner complete with spring mounts. Question is are these the same ? when you look thru AMD it just says 68-70 B-Body?

Cheers Shane

The only difference is the rear spring mount area. Plymouth has a 1" shorter wheelbase than Dodge.

Thanks hunt2elk .......see that on part #'s thru AMD now ..there is AD if anyone interested as they are real nice set.
Cheers

That difference is in the front spring hanger that bolts onto the framerail. The dodge boys moved the front springer hanger bolt one inch rearward in the hanger bracket to get bragging rights on the wheelbase. The framerails are the same across dodge and plymouth B bodies.....2 door and 4 door

I ran into this issue when changing rear rails on a 69 Charger. Picked up Plymouth rails with spring mounts. I am about positive we had to get the Dodge version of the rear mounts.

The pictures aren't in the same proportion but you can see the differences in the front hanger. Frame rails were the same....the dodge pushed the bolt hole back farther.

Cheers

It opens your search if you are going for original frame rails. 2 door and 4 door 68-70 are the same rails in the dodge/plymouth B line. I'm not sure on the wagons.

In fact the 66-67 2 and 4 door framerails will fit. The only difference is the 66-67's had a transverse fuel tank strap and the rails had the j-bolt slot on one side and the strap slot on the other....and the drivers side had provisions for fuel filler tubes. I put a 69 charger floor in my 67 belvedere....fit like a glove and matched right up with the 67 trunk dropoffs.

Those will do the trick for your charger

The rear shackle mounts are different, Dodge to plymouth. The tubes are farther back on Dodge. Easy to fix.

My 2cents is get to a factory parts manual and look up the rails, from there you will be able to check the interchange...

YEP !!!! RAILS are identical, Dodge to Plymouth, it's the rear hanger section that is Dodge/Plymouth specific.

Great info, I had no idea that's how the wheelbase change was accomplished. Don't think that's how they did that with the E body's did they?

The plymouth E bodies were structurally shorter by two inches. The difference is in the rear footwell area.

You need to do some more research before telling another member that a part will fit. Yes, the actual rails are the same, BUT he will still have to modify or better yet, replace the rear hangers. Front hangers are no big deal because they just bolt on. Rears are welded.....

Eastwood lists the rear spring hanger as 66-70 charger, coronet and Belvedere under the same part number within the same description. I’ve done tons of research on interchangeability of the 66-70’s undercarriage parts to make my 67 come together. Based on everything I have seen I am giving proper information.

If you have proof otherwise by all means please share it. I don’t want to mislead anyone. I would say to compare measurements of our actual cars to a known data point but I removed my hangers during the mini tub. I can’t compare apples to apples

Frame rails as myself and others have noted are the same for Dodge and Plymouth

AMD's numbers are 895-1468-L and -R

Rear leaf spring hangers are make specific and AMD's numbers don't help confusion.

Plymouth is 865-1466-2L and -2R

Dodge is 865-2466-2L and -2R.
