This is a fresh scratch your head post that I never heard before. Over Covid/winter I decided to freshen up the 64 Savoy. I bought new speedo cable and both tranny cables from the guys at A&A. Got the new cables and installed them no sweat. Checked them out and everything was a go. Fast forward two months and came home backed the car off the trailer put the car in park and went to move the trailer so far so good. I come back to put the car in the garage so I select drive and nothing messed around to see WTF and still nothing, my driveway is kinda steep so no way to get it in the Garage. Called HAGGERTY and after a good laugh they sent a rollback to get it put away. Next day I get it up on the rack and pull the gear selection cable out and it is stuck in the housing and it will not slide freely.
I call and talk to A&A and Rick says that it probably welded it self to the inside of the housing and how were my grounds on the car? So after a long pause they said they would send me out a new cable so all good with that part of the story.
So I called a good buddy big time NHRA and MOPAR racer and collector. He tell me that everyone of his cars along with the normal ground straps which I have also, he always grounds the tail shaft mount of the transmission to the crossmember. So I did also just in case A&A was right.
