Had my 340 that I had stroked and bored to a 418 on the dyno Friday. I was a little disappointed with the numbers till he told that his dyno is 10% off. He has done other motors that have been on a other dyno and his is always 10% low. Using 10% on the dyno sheet the numbers come in what Hughes engines said it would make. 549 torgue 531 hp this was with 91 octane and a rev-n-nator box.

Damn! That thing has to wind out to make some power. Good engine for auto cross.

Very nice! Can we get some build specs please? Will be doing a 340 stroker for my dart at some point and your power on pump gas has me intrigued!

I can argue that till the cows come home. The LA lacks big in 2 areas in which if it were not available to a 5.7, the 5.7 would have the same limitations. Though these are not easy to down grade on. But a bit pricey to upgrade on for the LA.

Roller cam
Cylinder head flow

Give the LA equal head flow with the same cam specs, then it is down to bore and stroke which will only determine how and where the power curves come in and fall off.

Failing to match a superior head flow characteristics and its abilities coupled with a lacking camshaft will only have any engine struggle.
 
I will post the them when I find all the specs. I started this project almost 2 years ago. I thought the the HP would be higher in The RPMs It should be a fun motor for my 71 Challenger. 4 speed with 373 gears. Factory non RT shaker car. I bought it in high school in 1978. This is the car that started my mopar Obsession
