Thats the way its been for a number of years, dont know how long but the only parts you will find is nos n than some of them will be from them

At least it's not mainland China.

Taiwan is actually an ally.

Yep, I posted on this elsewhere. I recently went and picked up some stuff at their main warehouse in Georgia and was told it was there all research and development where done in house there. Once the mould/stamping is finalized , it is shipped to their factory in Taiwan for production. I guess Goodmark would be the second largest producer and not sure who is next. Does Sherman and Steele make their parts...

I tried multiple times to buy a 68Roadrunner hood from AMD with
no success. they've worn out the die set and keep punching them out!
The hoods needed so much work that I passed and bought an original
and reworked it. Unfortunately, they're the only game in town.

Yeah, Good Luck.... I worked for ShermXXs for years and nothing is made here except for some Tri5 Chevy stuff. Different name/brand/decal ALL the same DIES......

Pretty damned pathetic.

Your surprised?

Probably part of the reason we can't even make sheetmetal here anymore...we're too lazy to even use the language properly.

Quite a few of us do, actually...we just have boring accents!

And, we're aware that a "torch" includes actual fire, not batteries...

LOL....we have lots of different accents too I guess....the further North you go the less correct use of the English language you see....the opposite to the USA I guess!!

There was a company that made 68 to 70 Charger rear quarter panels here in the USA. They were called Classic body designs. They showed the panels at most of the big Mopar shows, about a year before AMD came to be. The price of their rear quarter panels was $2495.00 each. They were nice pieces, but were made from slightly thinner gauge metal than the original ones were. When AMD started making the Charger rear quarter panels, their price was $ 699.00 each. Classic body designs then lowered their price to $1595.00 each in an attempt to complete with AMD, then to $1295.00 each before they dissapeared. AMD did look into producing them here, but like Classic body designs found out, they would not be able to compete with the competition. As it stands now, AMD has yet to make a profit on the Mopar line as a whole, meaning that the amount of tooling and development of the products has yet to be recouped. The only reason they offer the Mopar line at all, is because they are Mopar people who saw that there was no decent aftermarket sheetmetal available for our cars. While they are a business, and they expect the Mopar line to be profitable at some point, their GM and Ford sales have afforded them the luxury to offer the Mopar line, and for that we should be thankful. Whether it is made here or not it has made restoring possible for many Mopars that would have been deemed to be to far gone to restore, and they would have been used for parts or scrapped. I remember back when there was no aftermarket sheetmetal or restoration parts available for our cars, so I commend AMD and the other companies that make restoration parts for our cars, and patronize them as much as possible.

I spent some time in Taiwan R.O.C. in 1987. Their manufacturing was pretty good. I'm sure it has improved. Their design expertise was not very good at that time, but they could copy/make things handed to them. Overall, conscientious folks and wanted to do a good job. They like Americans a lot.
