Went to our county hospital at 6.45 this morning, in surgery at 8.00 got two fixed with mesh, took 1 1/2 hrs. Went to a room for a few hrs,
Everything went fine , discharged with some pain pills and a ice bag. Lol
Riding the recliner at home now , thinking about stuff needing done at work. Going to be a long week. Or 2 or 3 lol

I hope all gos well,my son same thing and 3 years later is still hurting.

A long week? I was told to do nothing for 6 months when I had my umbilical done and it ended up popping at 7 months while sitting in my friggen desk chair doing the plastic plants payroll. Hopefully you had a MUCH better surgeon!

I had same thing about 2 years ago i got off the bed after it was completed I could notice an immediate improvement. heal up before you lift anything, 6 weeks i believe what they told me I used to screw around and always go back to work in a couple weeks for something like that but i did what the doctor told me. made a big difference for me got some of my core strength back. took about a year to heal complete where the mesh stopped poking me in the stomach. good luck hope it works out for you.

Thanks for the encouragement! Lol

I need my umbilical one done. Been nursing it for about three years. Talked to a surgeon and he freaked out and said I need it done right away. Talked to a GI doctor and he looked at it and said "Its a little one, don't worry about it. Besides the mesh they use causes infections". So what do you do?

If they operate on it from the outside, you'll have a long recovery. Surgeon told me about two to three weeks before you can drive and weeks before you can return to work. The laparoscopic with the robot you can drive after two or three days. Go back to work in two weeks. All depends on what you want to pay, or what your insurance will pay.

Thanks don , I will.

Don't tie your own shoes, and don't rush it. My wife had it done 3 times before they got it half way right.

So at what point did you all say it was time to get this done?

Slim, I have been dealing with them for aprox 5 yrs, just the past year got worse.
Move a transmission , pulling hard on a breaker bar, shoveling dirt ect. The damn one on the left would pop through then I would have to lay flat and push it back in place. Then it would be like a tooth ache for a few days.
Dr. Told me if it gets twisted then you have a big problem.
So I pulled the trigger.
If it was not for that left side popping out at times i prob would have put it off longer.
