What is the largest rear wheel size you for a stock 65 coronet?

Just take your time, think everything out, clean everything, go for it. Really really easy. Some welding required.

Howdy fellow mopar guys, I`m putting together a 65 coronet street strip car and wanted to pick your brains on what is the biggest tire / wheel combo I can put on the back of this car. I read some of the post regarding this and a fella called Super Stock said he runs 15x10s with 6.5" back spacing with 28x10.5 MTs on his with stock spring location and no mods to the wheel well. Can someone verify that for me. My car is all stock at this point and I dont want to cut or modify this car at all. Any feedback would be greatly appricated... Any photos of your set ups would be a big help too if it aint to much trouble...

I have a '65 Coronet. I have M/T Sportsman's on it size 275 x 60 x 15 on 8" wide American Racing Torque Thrust D's with standard factory backspacing. There have been NO modifications to the springs.......or min-tubbing. I have about 1" of space on the inside and outside of the tire/wheel when mounted. Perhaps a custom back-spaced wheel can be ordered to permit the use of a larger tire...but.....how much will you gain vs. $$$ spent? Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help, bigtime, but this thread is eight years old. I think he has probably made his decision .

Dont worry, ive commented on a twelve year old thread without noticing, lots of us have done it. Lol.

Food for thought , Cragar S/S 08/61 wheels look great on Mopars . A lot of folks do not know that Cragar has a Custom shop that will build you a wheel with the needed back spacing you might need . Go to the Series Gragar 08/61 S/S wheel site , on the top you will see Custom Shop . Click on it and will will take you to the custom shop . Cost of wheel plus $50.00 will get you a custom wheel . Just a reminder a 10 inch wheel will end up at 11 inches due to 1/2 lip on each side of wheel . I found about this by ordering but made it work . Hope this helps somebody

The diagram above is incorrect. A 8” and a 10” wheel with the same back space will have the inside of the rim in the same location.
